It's a chain, and there are complete R&R instructions at AutoZone.com: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/repairinfo/repairguide/repairGuideContent.jsp?pageId=0996b43f80381cca.

If 105K is the recommended interval, I think I would at least perform an inspection for stretching and maybe make sure the tensioner is still holding it tight.

How do i change the timing belt on a nissan altima 2001

A Nissan ultima does not have a timing belt,it has a timing chain, look up in your manual for your maintenance schedules when and at what mileage you are needed to change the chain, usually the chain is changed when it is loose through stretching in wear over mileage,a very loose chain has a rattling noise in the engine compartment by the cam gears, good luck ,hope that I was helpful.

I own an '05 Altima 3.5L SL with 181K miles. The only maintenance ever performed on this car has been several brake jobs & changed the spark plugs. Does this car have a timing belt or chain that...

Follow your owners manaul, it has all the services needed according to mileage, of course if you havent been following the book, it doesnt do much good, and you are overdue for Coolant, Trans fluid/ filter, belts, filters, ect. Your car should have a timing chain.

Does 05 almera have timing belt or timing chain

Do you mean Altima?

If yes, both the 2.5 and 3.5 liter engines use a timing chain. Is there a problem we can help you with?

Does a 1999 nissan altima gxe have a timing belt or a timing chain and if it does have a chain does it have to be replaced as often as a belt?

I think it has a chain. look where the timing chain/ belt should be. if there is a large plastic cover, it has a belt, it its a aluminum cover, it has a chain. there is no replacement interval on a chain.

That's a load of **** they are feeding you.The timing chain tentioner has a fault and not tentioning the chian.I think you have done a good thing keeping it on synthetic oil. That causes less wear on moving parts than other oils.

00 SE Altima, Is it the timing chain or the motor or both??

If the engine spins over very fast like it is not under any kind of pressure then the timing chain/belt has failed. There is a considerable amount of damage that can accrue when this happens. You may not be able to replace the chain/belt and repair the problem now. It may actually be cheaper to replace the motor now than repair the old one. So they may both be correct. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Timing belt 1994 nissan altima

most timing belts go much longer. i am asuming the dealer recommends it or you probably wouldn't ask.it is not an easy or cheap job. i am a big fan of if it ain't broke don't fix it. my truck has almost 200k with the original on...some motors are damaged when the timing belt breaks..ask your dealer why it is recommended and go from there..Good luck

You have a timing chain no belt. Changing is not necessary unless there is a failure. Water pump will need changing when it leaks.
