Question about 1989 Toyota Cressida
You always use coolant if you buy straight antifreeze you mix it with distilled water only never tap water it has too many minerals and impurities in it prestone is best the 50/50 mix is good and cheaper

You need to find the rad cap in the front of the car or the white plastic bottle that is near it.Once the engine is cold you can take off the cap or open the plastic bottle cap and add coolant to either of these locations,i suggest coolant but if you don't have the option put in water and then replace it with coolant later(before the next freeze). If you ever add water to the cooling system you will need to check it with an hydrometer to see where the freeze point is and then drain down the system some if required and add straight antifreeze.

Best stuff to use in my opinion, is Prestone All-Makes. It can safely be added to any colour of coolant (tho I still do not recommend mixing it with Dex-Cool, allthough it says it is fine). You don't have to worry tho yours will not be Dex-Cool as that is a GM type coolant.
So to re-cap, I recommend Prestone All-Makes. You can decide whether you want pre-mixed, which you can pour straight in, or concentrated which will need to be mixed 50/50 with water.
