Question about 1993 Saturn SL2
First you must remove the top surface of the dash. There are snap clips in the front and couple bolts nearer to the windsheild that are beneath little hider panels (little rectangular cut-outs that pop out to reveal the bolt heads). Honestly I didn't bother with the bolts I popped the tabs and then just carefully worked beneath the slightly raised front.
Once that is off, or exposed, open the glove box and remove the face plate from the center console. Be mindful that there is a wire harness connected to the back of the traction control unit. Now, you may wish to take the plastic covering off of you steering column as it will make the rest of this easier. There are four bolts along the top of the instrument cluster bezel. Once these are out carefully start to remove the bezel. Be mindful that there are two wiring harnesses connected to this near the steering column. One connected to the light dimmer and one to the button on the opposite side of the column, I believe it was the defrost.
Once you are free and have that out of the way there are four more bolts, same size, that hold the instrument cluster to the dash with these out carefully remove the large wiring harness that connects to the cluster. Once the cluster has been removed look at the back of it. There are a 24 blue and grey nubs with 13 of them in a straight row at the bottom of the cluster. The check engine light is the third from the right and should be a size 74 though quite a few other bulbs will work (73, t5, led upgrades...)
Installation is the reversal of the above process.
