Question about 2006 Scion tC
First it might just need a charge, and not the sensor, before you go and change parts, go to parts store and ask them about refrigerant

I think what has happened is when the car was in the smash some of the air-con pipes have been damaged and after the repair they have been put back on, or even if they have been replaced my guess is the system has not been recharged, As for the heater maybe the pipes that go onto the blower box may not be attached properly which will send the heated air in another direction

The compressor problem. Is the AC compressor coming on, if not then its the compressor related problem.------
Get the AC pressure test done.If the pressure is low, that means the refrigerant is low, the AC unit requires refrigerant .There is a low pressure switch, that does not engages when refrigerant is low, due to that compressor will not start and AC will not run,.---------
The system could have shutdown due to low fluid. There is a pressure sensing switch in the line that respond to the "Low Fluid" condition. The reason it does that is so that the compressor does not get damaged and cause all sorts of other problems.Get the Compressor test and AC pressure test done .It can be done at local AC charging center.-------- They have all the required too, to check the compressor and AC charge in the system.---------
This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.
