Question about 1997 Cadillac DeVille
On this vehicle the hydrualic abs pump assembly is located right in the area described something may have penetrated the harness feeding this assembly or the abs pump motor has internally shorted depending on what kind of damage was done as to what it will take to fix start by jacking up and removing driver,s side front wheel been a little while but i think there may be debris shield that has some screws holding on remove and in front area of wheel well area the assembly i mentioned is mounted if it,s as bad as you make it sound you will see the pump assembly and the source should be noticeable follow the harness to the pump look at the connectors for melting fire damage or what not this assembly can most likely be bought thru a local salvage yard reasonably and found on www.car-part.com punch in vehicle info and part looking for and your zip code the rest you will see hope this helps if so repost

Friend, Do not drive the car. Please have the ABS replaced as the present one has gone up in smoke. There is a short circuit which has caused this damage. Have it rectified too.
