This is most likely due to a mis adjusted or worn shifter mechanism. Clean it inspect it replace worn parts, lube and adjust.
Adjustment is done with shifter in neutral, there is an alignment hole thru all the arms and the bracket, adjust the length of the arms until a drill bit will insert thru the hole.

05 Trailblazer transmission says neutral but gear shiftier is locked in park.

Automatic Transmission Shift Lock Control System
The automatic transmission shift lock control system is a safety device that prevents an inadvertent shift out of PARK when the engine is running. The driver must press the brake pedal before moving the shift lever out of the PARK position. The system consists of the following components:
• The automatic transmission shift lock control solenoid
• The automatic transmission shift lock control switch
With the ignition in the ON position, voltage is supplied to automatic transmission shift lock control switch. Voltage flows through the normally closed contacts of the automatic transmission shift lock control switch to the automatic transmission shift lock control solenoid. The automatic transmission shift lock control solenoid is permanently grounded. This energizes the automatic transmission shift lock control solenoid causing the transmission shift lever to be physically locked in the PARK position. When the brake pedal is pressed the contacts in the automatic transmission shift lock control switch open, de-energizing the automatic transmission shift lock control solenoid. This allows the shift lever to be move out of the PARK position.

Circuit Description
The transmission range (TR) switch is part of the park/neutral position (PNP) and back-up lamp switch assembly, which is externally mounted on the transmission manual shaft. The TR switch contains four internal switches that indicate the transmission gear range selector lever position. The powertrain control module (PCM) supplies ignition voltage to each switch circuit. As the gear range selector lever is moved, the state of each switch may change, causing the circuit to open or close. An open circuit or switch indicates a high voltage signal. A closed circuit or switch indicates a low voltage signal. The PCM detects the selected gear range by deciphering the combination of the voltage signals. The PCM compares the actual voltage combination of the switch signals to a TR switch combination chart stored in memory.

These are all electronically controlled , yur best bet would be to take your vehicle to the dealer .

Shifter is locked in park on a 2002 bravada that sayes on dash its in reverse

PRND321 Display
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the selected gear position as determined by the engine control module (ECM). The IPC - instrument panel cluster receives a serial data message from the ECM indicating the gear position. The PRND321 display blanks if:
?€¢
The ECM detects a malfunction in the transmission range switch circuit.

?€¢
The IPC detects a loss of serial data communications with the ECM. You need a Tech2 scan tool to diagnose this problem ! possible range sensor !

I have a 2001 chevy tracker Manual transmisson The only gear it will move in is 4th When u try any other gear it acts like its in neutral Any ideas

The manual transmission uses a mainshaft that is locked in 4th and gives the 1:1 ratio. The rest of the gears come off the input shaft of transmission to a counter gear cluster then back up to output shaft. Either the input shaft gear or the gear on the counter shaft is stripped. That would cause the only fourth gear drive.

I have a saginaw 4 speed that i would like to put in a 73 camaro. The motor is a 350 with about 360 hp. the car has 410 gears.I have heard this transmission is not very strong is this true? if this is true...

I had a Saginaw 4 Speed in a 1970 Chevelle with a 396 bored out to 409 and a cam. I took a couple of stock clutches out of it but never hurt the tranny. I used it for a daily driver and some "street fun" for about a year and a half until I spun a bearing, but that's another story ( read Stupid). Hope this helps.

'89 dodge dakota manual transmission A535 will not shift out of 4th gear. the stick will move around and even go into other slots but gear stays locked in 4th. what's wrong

Most likely solution is the gear selector fork in the transmission has broken and is no longer engaging the gears.

Repair requires transmission removal and partial overhaul.

It may be a damaged syncromesh component in the second gear system. That means remove the transmission and disassemble to repair.

Have saginaw manual steering gear box on 70 pontiac t/a. steering seems a little loose. how do i adjust saginaw box

There should be two adjustments on your steering box. Loosen the large ring nut at the end of the box and tighten the center adjuster to zero clearance. When re-tightening large ring nut, make sure that adjuster does not turn with it (sometimes it helps to adjust a bit looser so the adjuster ends up where you want it) You will also find another adjustment on the cover opposite the pitman arm shaft. Adjust with wheels off the ground and make sure that after adjustment is made box does not bind. If any binding is noted, back off a bit.
