Question about Kia Sorento
Limp mode is a setting in the TCM that is engaged when a fault is detected - it's role is to allow the transmission to keep working long enough for you to reach a service shop to fix the fault.
What is the fault can only be found by inspecting the transmission, starting with reading the error codes. This is what you should do ASAP. Longer you wait, bigger the damage, more expensive it will be to fix.
