to reset the oil life you turn your key to the run/on position (with the engine off,) and step on the gas pedal 3 times within 5 seconds. You will then see the oil life go to 100%.

When Jiffy Lube changed the oil in my 2009 Ford Expedition, they did not reset the "Change Oil" message in the instrument panel. Since I set out on a trip immediately after the service, I can't...

You can leave it,it is a gadget, not tied to any system

You should have an owners manual (still) on a 2009

Never go the Jiffy Lube

Read all the damage and horror stories ,on quick change

How do I reset the oil life on my 09 malibu?

While the vehicle is in Park, you need to hold down "info" and the enter (<-) key for a few seconds.. that will bring you into advanced options.. I believe oil reset is the first option that will show up. Just select that and it'll revert back to 100%.

Hope this helps and please rate my help thank you and good luck

I just had an oil change oil life % still reads the same

It has to be manually reset, consult your owners manual, it will tell you how to do it. Alot of oil change places dont pay attention to your indicator.

Poor fuel mileage and power 2009 chevrolet malibu

Your numbers aren't that far off...the mpg posted is established using professional drivers...I could likely coax a few more mpg out of your car if I drove it because I know how. Generally, today's new engines do not need any "break in" so it should have adequate power right out of the box! There may not be any updates for the computer, but the map sensor should be able to compensate for altitude changes. Using a synthetic oil can help a bit as well.
I'd try and find out if there were any optional transmission or final drive gear options offered for different localities. That may affect both mpg and performance. As for shifting, (as well as everything else you mentioned, I'd definitely contact factory customer service if you aren't getting anywhere with your dealer) The car didn't cost $5.00, and therefore I would take it to the "next level" if you aren't happy with it!!

My change oil soon message came on today and i just had the oil changed august 1. also, the message 5% oil life also came on. is there trouble?

not necessaraly. It could mean that you got the oil changed before it was due, so the mechanic who did the oil change did not know to reset it. The oil life needs to be manually reset after every oil change. The vehicle uses an internal clock to map how many hours of usage the oil has on it and determines the life left by these means. if you are someone who does not drive very much but still sticks to the 3 month 3000 mile rule of thumb this will happen often. check your owners manual for the reset procedure if not i can provide one for you.

I cannot get the Change Oil Soon message to reset on a Pontiac G6

Chevrolet Malibu, Malibu Maxx 2004-06; 2006 HHR, Cobalt, Pontiac G6, Solstice
Turn ignition to run engine off. Display OIL LIFE RESET in the Driver Information Center (DIC). Press and hold the ENTER button for at least one second. An ACKNOWLEDGED’ display message will appear for three second or until the next button is pressed. This will tell you the system has been reset. Turn the key to OFF. If the “CHANGE ENGINE OIL” message comes back on when you start your vehicle, the engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the procedure.
