Question about 1999 Chevrolet Malibu
Hi, if you mean the anit theft device then has this happened due to you disconnecting the battery if it is then have you tried locking the doors then unlocking them again as this will reset the anti theft.
if you have not had the battery off then the problem is going to be with the key these have a small transponder chip in them which the car recognises when you put the key in the ignition if the key gets dropped it can cause damage to the chip, the only option you have is to take your key to the nearest main dealers and get them to check if the key is still working or not, if its not then your going to need to get it replaced.
if the key turns out to be ok then you need to get the cars immbobiliser checked at a garage these sometimes fail and need re-programming to your cars key so get the key checked first as this is the cheapest option then get the cars anti theft checked and programmed again if needed.
