SOURCE: crank position sensor location

you will need to remove the starter to gain acess to the ckp sensor. once you remove the starter look on the engine block and you will see the sensor. The only problem with doing this repair yourself is that you will not be able to preform the crankshaft position variation learn procedure with out a factory scan tool. The vehicle may crank an run, but the timing advance curves will be wrong so the vehicle will probably cut off every time you remove your foot from the gas pedal. Hope this info helps!

its behind crankshaft balancer or pulley.its not hard to replace but.you need a harmonic balancer or crankshaft balancer remover tool and a installing tool for harmonic balancer.WARNING THIS IS A DANGEROUS JOB IF FIRST TIME WORKING ON CAR.YOU HAVE TO RAISE CAR WORK UNDERNEATH.THATS WHAT MAKES IT DANGEROUS.I WOULD NOT ADVICE YOU TO DO JOB UNLESS YOU HAVE SOME MECHANIC TRAINING OR TRADE SCHOOL SKILLS.

Symptom of bad crankshaft sensor on 2000 yukon denali

A crank sensor will usually fail and set a trouble code in the computer.
Once the engine starts the ignition gets a signal from the cam sensor and uses the crank sensor as a reference point.
If the crank sensor fails it generally keeps the engine from starting.

Wer can i find the crank sensors on a 99 olds intrigue 3.5 engine

The crank sensor is located below the front exhaust manifold and above the starter. To access it, you must lift the front of the vehicle, and remove the starter. Once the starter is removed the sensor is visible. Because of the poor location and poor GM engineering these sensors fail. You have excessive heat from the exhaust and oil leaking from the valve covers that short them out. Also once the sensor is replaced, it must undergo a re-learn process. Unfortunately this process can only be performed by a GM dealer via their computer system.....if you need further assistance, feel free to post them on FYa...hopefully this helps!!
