Question about 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser

Y wife was driving our 04 pt cruiser and it stalled at alight, then a stop sign but started back up. Then a few miles later she pulled over to the side to let someone pass and the low rpm's made it stall and would not start again. It posted a P0340 code. Replaced cam sensor and crankshaft position sensor. I have spark and fuel. Cylinder 1&2 seem to have good compression but not 3&4, also the cam does not turn when cranking the car. So, now I'm told the timing belt went bad. What are the odds the lack of compression on 3&4 is due to bent valves? Wife says it made no unusual noises during the ride of 15 miles just slowed rpm's and died. What do you think?

Will not make any noise when valve's get bent, piston just hit's it enough to bent then, this is an interference engine, which the possibility of piston to valve damage in the event of timing belt failure is most likely to occur, also while in there doing repair's, I would also replace water pump, due to it's timing belt driven.

Does the engine crank, but not start or will it not crank?

If not cranking, test battery, clean post and check wires for corrosion and good contact. Also check the ground wire between the engine block and the car body for good contact. If all good there, may be a problem in the ignition switch.

If the engine cranks but will not start, check the pressure on the fuel rail. If good pressure, check the ignition module.

2.0 liter engine it is on the back side of cylinder head 4 bolts hold it on can be seen from drivers side of car.

My 2003 pt cruiser ran out of gas and now wont start. what can i do? we we at a stop sign and it just quit running. this was on a city street. my wife let it run way out of gas. the vehicle has 107,000...


Are you still with the car? If so stop texting and call a friend to come with some gasoline ( 3-5 gal. should be plenty). Put that in the tank and then turn the key on and wait for about 10 sec. then turn key off. Repeat this two mor times. Then try to start the car normaly and drive to the gas station and fill the car up. Oh and stop running out od gas!

Power stearing went out leavin drive way only has 60,000 miles would it be the pump already this is 04 pt cruiser


1st have you looked under the hood may be the belt thats lose or broke maybe low on power steering fluid.if all looks good then it may be a pump problem.

WON'T START


my 2006 pt cruiser won"t start. the light do come on but it will not turn over just a clicking sound. i drove it for about an hour then went back to it 30 mins later and it didn"t start. just clicking sound.

Losing power


HEY EVERYONE.... SORRY FOR THE CAPS BUT I FINALLY FOUND SOMEONE WITH A BRAIN AND GOT THIS PROBLEM FIXED FOR FREE!!!!!!!! Now I have about 20 forums to go back to and save hundreds of PT Cruiser Owners the time money and aggrevation we have all experienced.
I have to give my friend John (now in my opinion the best auto mechanic in South Florida) the credit. Took him 10 minutes to give me the answer, took several Chrysler dealerships about 5 visits and weeks of diagnostics to finnaly agree with him!

The Solution: Replace the Catalytic Converter (FREE under 100,000 mile warranty - every car)!

I AM A CHRYSLER PARTS/SERVICE MANAGER AND HAVE SEEN THESE TURBOS BLOW INTAKE TO PLENUM GASKETS. WE ARE A SMALL DEALER AND HAVE SEEN 3 HAPPEN AND ALSO WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO DIAGNOSE. WE WERE ABOUT TO PULL THE HEAD ON ONE WHEN WE FOUND THE GASKET SUCKED IN.
