I've installed new pluds,cap,and rotor button and have no vacume leaks but have missfire issues on 4 cylinders and 2 r running lean

Engine codes pcm p0300, 301,302,303


p0300 is Multiple misfire on all cylinders , this could be a spark, running lean due to low fuel pressure or air leak or mechanical issue.
First of all check for any air leaks on motor. P0301 is missfire on Cylinder 1 hence the 1 on the end of 301 , 302 is cylinder 2 and so on. Cheers

Hello , I have a 2000 dodge Durango v6 with a po305 code , I replaced basic plugs wires cap & rotor . It smells rich with fuel and has a little mis at idle . Any ideas as to why it would be running...


P0305 code is a cylinder #5 missfire. The codes last digit is the effected cylinder, i.e. P0305 is cylinder #5 and a P0302 is cylinder #2 and so on. A P0300 is a multi-cylinder missfire.
Thoery 1: Ignition system! If the cylinder is being injected with fuel and not getting spark, the un-burned fuel would simply be pumped out the exhaust system and can be the source of the fuel smell. Check the ignition system and the firing order. I know you said you already did this, but I have to include this for other people in the future who might be using this to help them with a simillar problem.
Theory 2: Bad injector! If #5 cylinder injector is stuck at full fuel (leaking badly due to an internal mechanical failure) it will be pumping way too much fuel into the cylinder for the cylinder to burn. The outcome is the same as before, it just pumps the raw fuel out the exhaust system. Just as before, compare 2 cylinders by inspecting the spark plugs of #3 and #5. If an injector is stuck, that cylinder spark plug will be soaked with fuel. Injectors cannot be repaired, just replaced.
Theory 3: Low compression! If #5 cylinder is low on compression it will not fire the fuel as it is injected. A simple compression test is needed to tell if there is a mechanical failure internal to the engine causing low compression.
Theory 4: Bad intake plenum gasket! The intake manifold has a steel plate bolted onto the bottom of it with a gasket called a plenum. This plate is inside the lifter valley. If this gasket fails it will cause a vaccume leak into the intake manifold that will create a lean mixture condition for the cylinder that is nearest the failed spot. This lean mixture does not light or burn effectivly and can cause an unburned mixture to enter exhaust manifold causing the same sympoms as above.
Obviously this problem needs further diagnostics to pin-point the source of the failure. These are simply starting points and there can be many other things that can cause this type of problem, but these are the most likely. Hope this can be of some help, have more questions? Just ask!

no your problem is definately the dizzie cap, as i found out to my cost on a lansia beta. any kind of crack in ur dizzie will cause probs. best way to find out is park your car in the dark open bonnet with engine running then get a mist spray with water in it spray at dizzie and you will see a slight yellow arc around the crack! any crack in bakelite distributors leads to loss of one or more banks

you may try your rotor button and distributor cap. and spark plug wires. try your map sensor also they tend to cause a lot of misfiring if they go bad.hope this helps.

2000 lincoln navigator unable to bleed up fuel


I think I would try the easiest thing to fix and then see how much straightened out. The fuel tank vacuum will probably be a gas cap not on tight or defective or a gas vapor line has a hole in it. You may need a smoker to find that leak if the gascap is okay,

Bank 1 should have cylinders 1,2,3,4. Since 3 cylinders that are in the same bank are misfiring it must be lack of fuel or bad spark. The tester said that bank was lean. If the plugs were not firing it would be rich with unburned fuel. The tester also indicated the other fuel tank vacuum bleed problem.

You might try the power connector for the Bank 1 injectors or check the injector wiring for #2,3,and 4 to see if they are getting power.

Remember to clear the diagnostic meter to see if the trouble codes return. Would be interested in the outcome.

hi guess your engine has lack of power also a rough tick over ?your codes tell me you are running lean on bank 1and2 this can be due to many things its a matter of checking of one at a time 1 a bad coolant temp sensor 2vacuum leak 3 dirty injectors also reach over the top of your engine behind the intake dead centre of the windscreen there is a 9odeg rubber elbox check for a hole if thats your problem its only 3usd good luck please rate this answer thanks pete

What order do plug wires go on distributor cap


Firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. Move #1 cylinder to where piston is up, and on the compression stroke (TDC). Easiest way to do this is with a compression tester on the #1 cylinder - rotor cap OFF. When you see the pressure build...you're on the compression stroke.
The rotor cap should be at the #1 cylinder firing position...simply re-install the rotor cap at this time - noting which button is #1.
Starting at #1 install the wire for the #1 cylinder onto the rotor cap...the next button (clockwise) on the cap should correlate to #8; the third button on the rotor cap is, cylinder #4..and so on.
work your way around the rotor cap until you have all 8 cylinder wires in place...ignition coil wire in the middle button.

Engine should start and run.
