You should have the caliper itself checked for damage and wear. If the caliper isn't causing the problem, check/replace the rubber brake line associated with that caliper. Sometimes, they swell internally and cause the brake caliper to retain pressure.

1994 Taurus seems to lurch backwards as I'm driving, as if its being pulled back. Wheel smells like hot metal after I stop. Bad brakes or something worse?

It appears that you have a dragging brake and knowing ford it is probably a stuck hand brake rod in the brake calipher.. Raise the vehicle from the ground and see which wheel you cannot turn freely. You may have to get a new calipher in you cannot free up the unit.

How do u replace a front wheel bearing on a 2005 gmc envoy 4x4 and dose anybody have diagrams to follow how to

Remove center hub cap. Remove large nut behind hub cap.Lift wheel assembly off ground. Remove wheel. Remove brake calipher assembly by taking out larger bolts from back of calipher. Remove brake rotor. Pull axle toward middle of vehicle, you may have to tap axle end with small hammer being careful not to damage threads on end of axle. Remove three bolts from back, bearing housing should come out to the front.

Installed a rebuilt calipher (front left), Bled that side, caliper still does seem to be working. This is a 1996 toyota carolla.

i had this same problem and i changed the caliper 3 times before finding out that the rubber hose that goes connected to it was clogged and making the caliper stick and burning out my brake pad on that side very fast.i checked the hose and it was not letting the brake fluid flow with no pressure.i replaced the hose, bled the caliper and no more problems at all. i hope this info helps.good luck and take care, manny

When i drive forward, my rear, passenger tire makes a rubbing noise. I had all my brakes and rotors replaced about a month ago.

If it is really dragging, then there will be a lot more heat then at the other wheels. Careful, though, the rotor can be hot enough to burn you if there really is drag. The rears also have the parking brake cable as well as hydraulics. So have someone pull the parking brake lever on and off, while you watch underneath to see if the cable is releasing correctly. There could be a sticking calipher that may need to be freed up. Warranty should cover it.

Replacing front brake pads on detached caliphers

Hi my name is Allen!

Its extremely hard to explain how to install front brake parts without some sort of diagram. Here is what you can do, go to your local library and you can print out the diagrams you need, copies are only about ten cents a copy.

Back brake lights do not shut off. Plenty of brake fluid. Could the calipher be stuck, not releasing once brake let off of? 1996 Toyote Corolla.

Right at the brake pedal there is a brake light switch that can stuck in the closed position keeping the brake lights on. One way to test it is by removing one of the wires to it, if the light shuts, must be replaced.
