If it was your Gas Cap, the light will turn off by itself after a few Drive Cycles, if not go to your local AutoZone and they can read the code for free using a OBD II Scanner, which they can use to erase your code too if needed.

2006 Pontiac G6 shifting hard, engine very sluggish and mpg under 15.

You have a random engine misfire. P0300. That is the root cause. Basically this P0300 code means that the car's computer has detected that not all of the engine's cylinders are firing properly. This would also cause hard shifts due to low engine power.
Read on please.

A P0300 diagnostic code indicates a random or multiple misfire. If the last digit is a number other than zero, it corresponds to the cylinder number that is misfiring. A P0302 code, for example, would tell you cylinder number two is misfiring. Unfortunately, a P0300 doesn't tell you specifically which cylinder(s) is/are mis-firing, nor why.
Symptoms:
•the engine may be harder to start
•the engine may stumble / stumble, and/or hesitate
•other symptoms may also be present
Causes:
•Faulty spark plugs or wires
•Faulty coil (pack)
•Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
•Faulty fuel injector(s)
•Burned exhaust valve
•Faulty catalytic converter(s)
•Stuck/blocked/leaking EGR valve / passages
•Faulty camshaft position sensor
•Defective computer

I have a 2005 6 cyl Taurus SE. I was told the oxygen sensor needs replaced. (my engine light keeps coming on. They put it on the computer and thats what showed up.) I comes on a day or so after I get gas...

Because emmisions are so important right now..The Car engineers design all the domestic cars to make the engine light not only come on ,,but it will fash...WHEN the check engine light is on And flashing that means that it is doing damage to the catalytic converter..If it just comes on without any drivability concerns then you should be ok...O2 sensors usually range fro 70 to 100 dollars..They are relatively easy to do on your model car..I would think no more than 1 hour labor,,depending how many you change...You have three o2 sensors on that model they call them upstream and downstream..You have a left bank upstream..right bank upstream..one downstream ..Hope this helps

Check engine light comes on and goes out about once a month and then comes back on, i was told it was the heat warm up senor 1 and 2

Have the codes read for free, at most major auto parts stores, and you'll know for sure what is wrong. It could very well be the heating element on the O2 sensors, as you have been told, but get the codes read to be certain.

Hi Team, Good Afternoon. I purchased a 2005 Toyota Corolla 1 month ago (Used Car). As soon as I got the car I got the check Engine light. I took the car to Toyota of Irving and they told me that it was...

Did you buy this from a dealer? if so, you should have taken it back ASAP I dont know why you didnt have the Toyota Dealer fix the car, now your in the middle of a mess, getting 2 shops involved, and the car still has a problem. When you bought the car, whoever you bought it from, knew there was a problem, cleared the code and it took a while for the check engine light to come back on. So now you will just have to pay someont to fix the car. The trans shop told you it needed a converter and solenoid, the problem is still there, so make it their problem. I think you need someone who knows toyota . theres no recall that I know of. Recalls are free, anyhow. . ecm is warranteed 8 years or 80k miles. Have the dealer check it out. Have them Check Bulletin TC008-04 and T-SB-0378-08

2oo0 chevy blazer cel and code p0171 and p0174

Depending on the engine it will have between 4 and 2.

If you had a straight 4 or 6 engine then there would be only 2, one on the exhaust manifold or exhaust pipe and then one just after the catalytic converter.

If you have a "V" engine (V8, V6) then you have an oxygen sensor on each exhaust manifold and will have a catalytic converter for each bank of the V. There will also be an oxygen sensor downstream of each converter as well. In this case there would be 4 oxygen sensors.
