Either the battery has a bad cell which is preventing it from holding the proper charge or there is something, like a short in the electrical system, that is drawing a charge even when the vehicle is off. I would start with replacing the battery first.

Replaced alternator and battery on my 2001 mazda tribute. now the battery drains if the vehicle sits for one day.

remove your boot & glove box light to check if they are the problem. let it sit without the globes in for couple days then try.

After jumping a dead battery the car will lose power and die while driving. It will however sit and idle without a problem. I did try testing the alternator by removing the positive lead from the battery...

You never jump a dead battery
That is an unsafe act and could
result in an explosion

You must charge any battery fully,
to start any diagnostic proceedure

You never remove either battery cables,
while a vehicle is running, another practice
that will bite you sooner than later

It sounds as though the battery is not
capable of taking a charge and offers
too much resistance to run the car hooked up

I think I have a bad alternator on my 1992 volvo 940 turbo

Hi!
Start by charging the battery completely. Then, start your car and while running, remove the NEGATIVE battery cable from the battery. If the car dies, your alternator is bad. If it keeps running, reinstall the battery cable and turn the car off. Check for something that's on that would drain your battery like a light in the trunk, glove box, etc. that wont shut off.

2000 beetle battery

Hi

Sounds like your battery, have you had it heavy discharge tested ?

Get the alternator charging rate tested if battery tests OK.

Good Luck !
