I believe it has coil packs and the timing is controlled by the computer.

Car won't start. Just replaced battery, alterntor and fuel pump. Keeps on cutting off and won't crank.

check the wire from battery to starter and make sure its clean and tight! if wire is ok, it maybe in starter or starter solinoid. also check and be sure wire on ignition to starter is ok.make sure power is at or going through ignition switch. a bad ignition switch will cause many starting problems. if switch is bad, then dash lights will not go off when turning key off. check wiring and starter first. have a good day !

Car cut out like no ignition, now no power to starter circuit. Battery new & hot

No power to starter circuit. The starter gets power from battery to start. So check the connection between battery to starter. As you mentioned battery is new ,but still get the battery voltage checked. It should be 12 volts if battery is fully charged. If battery shows 12 volt then check the connection terminal from battery to starter. If connection checked ok then its most probably the problem of faulty starter. It has to be replaced. But if the starter checked out ok by meter, then the problem relates to faulty ignition switch circuit causing this problem.Checking all this possibilities will rule out the exact faulty part causing the problem.----------Thanks.Helpmech.

Battery has full charge. connections are good, but every 10th time or so I try to start it, battery will not turn starter. If I pull positive cable and put it back on, car will start normally until the...

THE NEXT TIME IT FAILS MAKE CERTAIN THE CAR IS IN " PARK " OR OUT OF GEAR SET THE EMERGENCY BRAKE,WHILE SOMEONE IS HOLDING THE IGNITION SWITCH IN THE START POSITION & MEASURE THE VOLTAGE AT THE BATTERY & AT THE STARTER SOLENOID OR RELAY, IT SHOULD READ 12 VOLTS AT THE BATTERY , IF THE VOLTAGE IS THERE, YOU MIGHT TAP ON THE STARTER { IGNITION SWITCH STILL IN THE START POSITION. IF TAPPING THE STARTER MAKES THE STARTER WORK THE STARTER NEEDS TO BE REMOVED & CHECKED & OR REPLACED

Batt. and alt. only last 6 months or so then won't start car

Ok, if the cranking amps is like 70AMPs or 100 AMPS as measured by an inductive ammeter on the battery cable when starting, and it does NOT start, then it's a bad starter.

However, if it does start, that's normal.

On a car that old, I would check that the battery cable ends are squeaky clean, wire brushed, or even replaced if cleaning is not possible.

Usually, a battery that is tested good will be good under a load test.

Also, try to use an ammeter to find out if there is a drain on the battery above .2 A while it sits there turned off. This could lead to a solution if you investigate where a short may be.

I can not find the neutral safety switch on a 2000 buick park ave

Any chance your vehicles have a security/alarm system. Disconnecting battery on some, will arm it sometimes & not allow it to run. Using key to unlock door, on driver & passenger side have been known to work on some vehicles, but if not, a call to dealer should help.
