2006 JETTA- RECOMMEND TIMING BET REPLACEMENT

  • Hi, I can help.

  • The 2006 Jetta service manual says every 60,000 miles the belt should be replaced. Seems a bit on the short side to me but that is the manufacturer request non the less.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Regards, Tony

When should i change my timing belt on my 06 vw jetta tdi.

You should change your timing belt at the factory scheduled intervals (unless you feel like dropping $1600 on a head and valve job). Timing belts are made of rubber and synthetic material and fatigue over time due to heat and stress. They play a very crucial part because they open and close the valves in time with the compression and exhaust stroke of the motor. If your timing belt is not changed in due time then eventually it will grenade, and there is a very good possibility that it could cause internal engine damage.A $600 timing belt job is much cheaper than a top-end motor build.I hope that I could be of some worthy assistance.........rate me accordingly and thanks for using Fixya!!

When should I have the timing belt changed on my 2006 vw jetta tdi? It has 94,000 miles on it already.

Some manufacturers have different opinions on this. Most places will recommend 60k, that is on the safe side. If you have 94k on it i would recommend it. It may last another 100k, but its not a chance you want to take.
