Drove diesel Polo through puddle now down on power

I would think you sucked some water into your air cleaner system and cut back the needed air flow to run proper.. It will dry out in time but to be safe it needs to be inspected and replaced as paper filters are not made to get wet.. Sodbust

check all vacume hoses for splits.this sounds also like air being drawn from the fuel tank sender unit which could be corroded.is there a strong smell of fuel inside the car?this could also be a secondary jet being blocked in the carb if it has one.good luck

it is more then likley your idle control valve . You can take this off easily and clean it out with carb cleaner spray, spray it several times and you should have a good clean valve then replace ,, also check for vaccum lines for cracks this can also cause stalling and no idle
