I haves 2004 Pontiac grand prix I was told I had a busted head gasket, took it yo the shop they said I have a leak in my elbow and now my service engine light is on.

just check your oil if its milkey looking then coolent is getting in and more than likley its a head gasket, if not then check for water leeks on the engine block and heads not the hoses if none there check hoses if its in the elbo as they said i assume they mean the one where the thermastat is located those are 19.95 at advance auto, maby cheaper elswhere, easy to change and yes a leak can cause a check engine light to come on, easy way to check for a leak is to use a black light and yellow glasses can be bought at parts stores, the engine coolent will appear to glow and finding the leak may be easyer depending on its location

Hi ihave a 2003 mazda 6 s v6 that i bought just over a month aqo. my check engine light came on i had it tested they told me it could be spark plugs or coil packs that i needed . so i got need bosch spark...

First I would find a garage that doesn't charge for diagnostics. I don't unless it is an electrical issue, which I usually fix when I find it. Second you have to get the coolant leak taken care of. This could be the entire problem. If you have overheated your car, it could have blown an intake manifold gasket or a head gasket letting coolant into the cylinders. This would pop 02 and misfire codes. This would also account for the jerking and hard starts. Also just a note get rid of the bosch plugs. Worthless. Go with what the manufacturer recommends. they may cost more but well worth it.

My check engine light is on. i took it to a mechanic, he hooked a machine to y car and he told me that it is the gas tank... either theirs a whole somewhere or its the sensor... please help.

You were told you have an EVAP System Leak

No hole in tank, vacuum leak from a hose or EVAP Sensor

No machine was used. Only a scan tool and an EVAP
Smoke Machine, to solve your issues

Over a week ago engine light came on, took to gm to have service, was told coolant cap was leaking and a leak in the line, charged $400.00. Engine light is back on? They charged me $400.00 and most of...

I would take the cavalier bakc to the GM garage where it was serviced to determine what is currently making the engine light going on. If it is the same cause, the service they performed should be under warranty.

If it is something else, then they will have to work on it more to get the engine light to go off permanently.

You can have the code(s) scanned for free at Advance Auto Parts or Autozone if you have either or both in your area.

Good luck on the repair of your check engine light problem.

Nissan xterra knock sensor

It's the valley of the engine underneath the intake manifold. It's about an $800 job because the top of the engine has to come off. However, unless you have a supercharged xterra it shouldn't effect performance. Also, the knock sensor will not trip the check engine light, as it does not indicate a primary problem, so if your light is on you should have another code that should be fixed first.

2003 Toyota Camry

It's funny because the dealership told me I needed a fuel filler tube, but when I took it to AutoZone for a free dx check they said my fuel cap was loose or defected. Toyota was so adamant that I had a leak-them thinking I am a female and I don't know, but I didn't see any leakage of course. Fuel cap only cost 20 bucks verses the 300.00 service to replace the filler tube plus a list of unneeded service. What do you know, check engine light is off and Toyota is full of it.
