Idle needle goes up but will not return under 3000 rpm, even when stopped.

does it do this all the time or after you drive it for a little while? if it does it all the time then id say you have a vacuum leak somewhere. has there been anyone under your hood recently to where they might have accidently knocked a hose loose? thats what it sounds like to me. thats where id start. just check all the hoses under your hood and if you find one not hooked up anywhere then id say thatd be it.

1996 Buick Century vacuum problem

Well doesn't matter what it's called. If it is loose and soft then you can take it off and get a new piece of hose from your local parts store.Unless it is a formed hose you will have no problem getting a replacement. You may want to check all other vacume lines as over time they will either get soft and **** shut or dry crack and leak.Any vacume leek will cause problems.Well hope this helps, and good luck.

Your loose hose from the EGR might plug into the back side of the throttle body...I'm not sure of the 3.4 liter setup.

Check for cracked vacuum hoses in your engine bay. Especially on your intake manifold.

Mitsubishi idling problem!!??

Am not shure the kind of engin you really have but see if your stepping mottor is damage or need relpacing. that problem can happen if you have a faulty unit . it also called the step up unit or sensor, if your car have air condition is turned on and the rpm goes up and down that can be the problem , the unit can be found attached to the throttle body. just below.

Hose that attaches to back of thermostat housing is leaking

The hose is a cooling by-pass hose. It makes a big horseshoe and attaches under the front of the intake maniold. I think that if you have small hands and a lot of patience you can likely replace it without haveing to take half the engine apart. (You have to pull the head to pull the intake manifold).
I think if you remove the battery, and have a small bright light you will be able to see where if attaches under the front of the intake manifold. Advance auto sells the by -pass hose for
around $12.00 I think.

Becare if you are probing around there are way too many vaccum lines under the manifold.
If they come off and you don't know where to put them -- you are in deep kim chee. I know I am
in super deep Kim chee now.

Hope this helps
