Question about 1993 Volkswagen Passat

1 Answer

The back left side window won't roll up or go down any further (it's up halfway). i don't hear any electrical noise when I try to use the switch to get it back up. Should I try to take off the door panel and set it manually? Or is there a fuse I can check?

It is possible that that there is line break of the power to the unit.Since the master control is also not working it is possible that the line voltage is absent. The line can break at the door hinges. CHek for power if not trace and connect. If power comes to unit checck motor if the motor is working then the unit controller driver transistor is faulty or the switch is faulty.
Check on all these points.

Thank you very much for your response! Do I have to remove the door panel to do this? It looks like a job just to do that!

yes, you will need to remove the panel, but if the master control does not work.

Ford expedition drivers side window won't roll up

well windows are usually pretty simple. It could be the window switch, the regulator bound up, or the motor itself went out. try jiggling the switch, actuate the switch over and over..see if you get any movement. sometimes smacking the side panel will jolt the motor. If that doesn't work i usually take off the door panel, try supplying the motor power, if that works that tells me the switch is bad. if the motor doesnt do anything even with 12volts supplied, then that tells us the motor is bad. if you hear the motor work but its grinding and nothing happens, the regulator is bad. Let me know if you have questions, i can help you further

DRIVERS SIDE REAR WINDOW ROLLS DOWN WHEN 2006 DENALI IS STARTED. THEN WON' T ROLL BACK UP.

Got kids? VW electric convertible top - I found dried milk in the switch had same problem on turn on convertible opened and would not close, would have to use manaul bypass foldup. Pull window controller spray with a electrical cleaner then try it. If not dirty the switch is bad. May be in driver door switch or on rear door? Good luck.

can you hear the electric motor turning when you try to put the window up?
if you can I would say that the plastic drive gear on the electric motor has stripped

Passenger side power window halfway down

You will need to remove your interior trim panel and check your window regulator for damage and for power going to your window motor. If your regulator is ok and you have power going to the motor then you have a bad window motor. If there is no power at the motor then you will need to check the circuit for the problem ie. blown fuses, broken wiring, bad switch. It is very commen for the motors to go bad. Good luck.

04 taurus Power Windows, passanger side goes down, not up, new mo

It is most likely the switch itself. since the down works that means that there is power going to the switch. So, the up position switch is probably worn out.
