Question about Chevrolet 1500

Open Question

2008 Chevy Silverado. Brake pedal goes to far down every third or fourth time you apply brakes and the power door lock on the driver door has quit working. Dealer confirmed he has seen this several times. Claims it the brake booster and power lock actuator. I just went out of warranty. 45,000 miles

Do you think there is any way to get GM to pay for the problem since the Service Mgr admitted it was a common problem?

SOURCE: 2008 Toyota Tacoma Excessive brake pedal

Your dealer is not lying to you.
All of the Toyota product line with ABS has this phenomenon. What Toyota has done is incorporate "Brake Force Distribution" into the braking system. What that means is there is now a sensor on the brake pedal/brake rod, going to the master cylinder. The sensor measures how FAST you press on the brake pedal. This activates the ABS pump, and supplies more brake fluid, harder, to reduce the time needed, such as a "panic stop"; the pedal travel is much longer than you are used to, because of the way they have to measure the speed of the rod being depressed. In actuality, this system is much better than the old system, as it also prevents wheel drag. It just takes a while to get used to. Really, there is nothing to worry about, I explain this same thing to my customers every week.

I hope this helps you out.

Thanks for choosing FixYa for assistance.

SOURCE: 1998 chevy s10- brake pedal goes to the floor-

Did you put fresh fluid in the master cylinder? I really think you still have air in the lines. To bleed manually, start with the bleeder the greatest distance from the master cylinder, car running, helper pushing down about half way on brake pedal and releasing 3 times, on 3rd time, holding pedal down to half way depressed point while you open the bleeder valve. Repeat until you are sure all air has been flushed out. Check master cyl reservoir level often, because if it gets low and you **** air into the system, you have to start all over again. Go to wheel next greatest distance from master cyl, repeat above, working your way to wheel closest to master cyl last.

SOURCE: 2001 Chevy Silverado anti-lock brakes activate on

One of the sensors has gone bad and needs to be replaced, the other thing to that would also do that is the ABS sensor is dirty or needs to be re gaped to the speed ring on the hub. There was a issue bulletin with your Tahoe on the ABS activating under 8 km/h. Good luck and hope this helps, if not clean out the sensor with brake parts cleaner and check the wire harness and ABS sensor bracket. Re gap the sensor to the speed ring hub. Here is the bulletin. SOURCE: parking brake pedal goes to floor

The disc brake pads are NOT used for the parking brake. The parking brake uses mini-drum type shoes inside the rear disc rotor.

My brake lights stay on while driving my 2008 chevy 1500 Silverado any solution

I've seen lots of problems with brake switches on these style pickups. Usually they stick on. That also prevents you from being able to set your cruise control, because the engine computer sees that the brakes are on, when they're really not. If you have access to a scan tool that can read codes and data, there should be a Diagnostic Trouble Code stored in the engine computer related to the brake switch. You can also verify by looking at data in the scan tool that the switch is actually staying "applied", when it really should be "released".
If you don't have a scan tool, reach under the dash by the top of the brake pedal and unplug the brake switch. If your brake lights turn off (ignition key has to be on for brake lights to work), then you've found your problem.

Brake pedal goes down normal then gets hard like there is air in line even after bleeding lines

Usually when there is air in the brake lines, the pedal goes to the floor.
If it is very difficult to apply the brakes, the problem may be the power booster.

2008 chevy malibu third brake light not working

Stop Lamps
The body control module (BCM) is responsible for controlling the stop lamps. When the driver presses the brake pedal, the BCM will receive a signal from the brake pedal position sensor. The BCM then supplies battery positive voltage to both left and right stop lamp assemblies and to the center high mounted stop lamp (CHMSL). The stop lamps are grounded at G401 and G403. The CHMSL is grounded at G302.
Did you check the blub , is there power ( B+) at the third light ? Is the ground G302 good ? Do you have a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter , do you know how to use one ? Do you know what voltage drop is ? an know how to test it ? Check the stop lamp relay in the under hood fuse / relay box.

Brake lights do not work, all other lights work.

It is a common chevy problem for the circuit board that holds to bulb to fail, are your running lights and signals still working back there as well? If not then you need to replace the boards.
