Open the hood to access the engine compartment. Locate the sparkplugs sitting to the side of the motor. Six wires run to the motor, three on each side.

Twist the rubber boot and pull away from the sparkplugs. This will expose the sparkplug.

Unbolt the sparkplug with a socket wrench. Use a 5/8-inch deep-well socket attached to the socket wrench.

Pull the sparkplug away from the motor. Discard the sparkplug.

Screw the sparkplug into the motor by hand. Make sure it is hand-tight.

Tighten the sparkplug with the socket wrench, using the deep-well sparkplug socket.

Click the wire to the sparkplug wire to the end of the sparkplug. Gently pull the wire to ensure it clicks into place.

Repeat the procedure for the remaining five sparkplugs. Change each sparkplug one at a time.

These cars require you to get the spark plugs out from under the car due to the intake plenum and fuel rail system being in the way you have to use a 3/8 swivel head ratchet and a 24 inch extension to get the 5/8 spark plugs out and back in. You can remove the intake manifold but the gasket cost's $125.00

Won't Start

Pull a spark plug wire and check for spark. Just take a spare, working spark plug and put it on a plug wire (or take a plug out of your engine), and ground the plug hex or the plug threads on a metal piece of the engine. Now the plug is grounded, so you won't get shocked when checking for spark. But just in case, wrap a heavy rag around the wire, or use a glove to hold it, and watch the spark jump the electrode while someone is cranking the engine. A good ignition system will have a blue, snapping spark. If you have no spark, check a second wire, and still nothing, then the ignition system needs checked-the coils, ignition module, and crank position sensor, and so on. An orange or yellowish spark is also a sign of ignition problems.
If you do have spark when checking, then check if fuel is reaching the engine-the schraeder valve on the fuel rail is the test port for a fuel pressure gauge. Really what you need is to check fuel pressure, but if you punch the center pin on the valve, and gas squirts out, then you know gas is up to the injectors and under some pressure.

My 2005 Dodge Caravan was on a road trip when the Engine light came on while I was loosing some power in acceleration. (I get a code p0201 for the #1 Fuel Injector Control Circuit). The car is blowing...

The engine is in what is called a "limp in condition". Either have a dealer or auto zone scan the computer to see what is causing it, and have them erase the codes. If it does it again, you may have to have someone look at your ECM.

My 2005 Caravan is misfiring. The spark plugs were changed in 2009. What do you think could be the problem. 4 days ago my OBD light came on and now it is off.

It is most likely a miss-fire code in the computer causing the light to come on,and off,the plug boots,or a coil is the problem most likely, have the codes read,it will tell witch cylinder is the miss, and you can replace the coil and boot, this is the most likely problem.

If you have good fuel pressure. Check for spark at any plug while cranking, If no spark, also place a screw driver on an injector and listen to it while someone cranks it over. If you have NO spark and NO injector click - crank sensor needs to be replaced. 95%
other 5% hmmm wiring problem on / near crank or cam sensors, theft system active, dead pcm.......

I changed the spark plugs in my 2005 dodge caravan and wires to the plugs but my Malfunction light came on. I set the spacing at .05 what it requests and the right tention. Does it matter which cable plugs...

The spark plugs wont make the light come on,but you could of caused a misfire if you didnt put the wire back correcttly to the right ports on the coil.Sometimes the coils are marked for which cyl. they belong to.
