1. Drain the engine coolant
2. Remove the Belt
3. Remove the radiator, and heater hoses from the water pump connections.
4.Remove the brace that connects to the A/C compressor to the water pump.
5. Remove the 4 bolts that secure the water pump to the engine.

I hope this helps you, and I wish you luck on your repair.

I am repairing a blown head gasket on a 2003 Ford Taurus w/ a duratec V6 3.0L 24V engine w/ 127,000 miles. This involves removing (& I am replacing) the timing chains. Should I replace the oil pump?...

-Take a close look. If it worn out badly. Yes replace it.
But just dirty, you don't have to. Or if you chose to, it's okay.

Good Luck

Im trying to replace the lower radiator hose and i was wonder if when it goes to the thermostat housing if it goes to the top or bottom opening the car is a 2000 ford taurus with a 24 valve dohc 3.0 L...

The lower radiator hose is usually connected to the water pump. It's purpose is to draw coolant from the bottom of the radiator and circulate it through the engine and heater. a word of caution, even if you drain the radiator when you loosen the hose there will be a sizeable amount of coolant flowing from that point. Keep a pan handy!!!

Replace the entire pump if you have pulley issues. No one presses off pulleys on steering pumps, even though you see pullers advertised.
