Question about 1995 Ford F350

I have a 1995 ford f-350 powerstroke that the water temp. runs warmer than should. It actually runs warmer at higher speeds than it does in town. any suggestions?

What is the coolant temperature and how are you measuring it? You need an accurate temperature gauge (the truck doesn't have an accurate one).

    You might want to (at least temporarily) install an accurate gauge so you can see whether the temperature is really fluctuating as much as the truck's gauge indicates. Another option might be, if you have a scan tool, to access the engine temperature PID (the temperature sensed by the computer). These sensors are typically more accurate (or at least more consistent) than the gauge sensors. I am not absolutely sure this is possible in a 1995 model, but check it out if you have a scan tool or access to one.

If the coolant is full in the radiator, the only thing I could think of is that the water pump may have worn impellers that do not circulate the coolant well enough at low speed, but does better at higher speeds.

Article 96-26-21 is being republished in its entirety as part of a consolidated 7.3L diagnostic aid booklet.
ISSUE
Some vehicles with transmissions built prior to 11/13/95 (5L13) may exhibit a driveline resonance/vibration between 1400 and 2000 RPM with the torque convertor engaged. This may be caused by the torque converter.
ACTION
Prior to torque converter replacement, refer to the following Service Procedure for details to verify conditions.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Verify the resonance/vibration does not occur in neutral and is most noticeable between 1400 and 2000 RPM with the converter clutch engaged during medium to heavy throttle conditions. Also watch for the vibration to diminish at engine speeds lower than 1400 and higher than 2000 RPM. If the concern meets all of these conditions and the transmission has a built date prior to 11/13/95 (5L13), replace the torque converter. Refer to the appropriate Service Manual for removal and installation procedures.
2. If the vibration concerns do not meet the conditions, check for non-factory installed items that could affect driveline and verify proper installation. Also refer to the appropriate Service Manual, Section 05-00 for diagnosis and testing.

How do i trouble shoot the glowplugs on a 1999 powerstroke


you test the resistance of each glow plug, they should all be about the same resistance, if u find any that are way off from the others then chances are they are defective. Have u considered going to constant duty glow plugs? they last far longer and are cheaper in the end.
