code p 0320 refers to crank shaft position sensor (CKP)/engine speed (RPM ) sensor---circuit malfunction====causes ---wiring---CKP/RPM sensor ---ECM
code p 0340 refers to camshaft position sensor (CMP) sensor A bank 1---circuit malfunction===causes wiring---CMP sensor ---ECM
following engine work , it is always best to check that all of the harness connections were assemble properly
check for broken wires during the work
After it stalls, turn the key back on and listen for the fuel pump in the tank. If you don't hear it it's likely it's bad. (bad ones bind when hot and usually show no code). Otherwise check the wiring continuity for the cps and check the signal from the pickup in the distributor. (check all the way to the computer itself. Of course, check all the relays and make sure they are good (most can be interchanged with each other except for ac relay)
OBD Code 12 - No Distributor Reference Pulse (Diagnostic Test Active)
The Engine Control Module-ECM uses the distributor reference pulse to calculate the engine speed. On
newer engines, the Crank Shaft Position Sensor performs this function.
Symptoms:
When flashing the Check Engine Light to read codes, code 12 will always display first, indicating the diagnostic system is active
The engine will not run with a "hard" code 12 set
Common Problems:
Chances are you will never need to diagnose a code 12. Rather, the problem would be a crank, no-start condition.
If code 12 does not flash, that would indicate a communication problem with the ECM.
Code 12 does not show when reading codes with a scan tool. If there
is a communication problem, the scan tool will let you know.
OBD Code 46 - Pass-Key II System Error - Circuit out of Frequency Range
The ECM receives a signal from the Pass-Key module. When the correct signal is
received, the ECM will allow the engine to start and run. Please review
the RepairPal article on the GM Pass-Key Anti-theft systems for more information.
Symptoms:
Engine may not start
Common Problems:
Faulty ignition lock cylinder
OBD Code 43 - Knock Sensor error
The ECM receives a signal from the Knock Sensor based on the amount of engine ping detected. The ECM uses information from this sensor to help calculate fuel delivery and spark timing.
WELL I AM LOOKING AT AUTOMATIC SHUT RELAY BAD OR THE BAD COIL POWER TRANSISTOR.YOU WILL NEED A SCANNER TO TELL YOU IF YOUR CMP SENSOR OR CKP SENSOR IS WORKING.
disconnecting the battery will only temporarily erase your code or check engine light. put your keys in the ignition, then turn it in the on position. Do not turn it so that the engine turns over, but as if you were just turning the radio on. Keep it on for 2 to 4 seconds repeat 40 times. i no it may take a while but unless you have a scanner its the only way.
Yes the po320 code is no signal at the crank. It is located on the transmission bellhousing. Its on the lefthand side of the housing in the top quarter. At the back of the motor. After the problem has been fixed,do not disconnect the battery to clear the code.Get the codes cleared before starting the motor or the comp may set a trouble code for that.A scan tool is needed from a dealer or good shop.I hope this helps
Generally, if it crank good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure and fuel injector pulse, if your missing everything, I'd check the cam and crank sensor signals. If only one system has a problem, we can check that one system. Could be other issues?
