96 gmc sanoma, can not locate turn signal flasher under dash.

Flasher units are always in one of 2 places, under glove box on pass side or in loom under steering wheel close to fuse panel.

On Sonoma it is under the lower dash panel, just to the left of the cigarette lighter. To get to it you must remove the ashtray. Then remove screws holding the plastic panel that is below the dashboard. You will see two round "can " shaped flasher units. The one on the right is for the signal lights. The one on the left is for the emergency flashers.

1 hex nut under ashtray and 2 torx to left of that. No need to completely remove the lower dash panel you took the screws out of. Just bend it down a little to get your hand in. You will see the 2 flasher pods.

It should be by your fuses either inside or under the hood. It will look alot like one of your relays.

Where is the flasher located

there are most likely two, plugged into a fuse panel. there are most likely two fuse panels, a small one with a few large fuses under the hood and another larger panel with many small fuses inside under the dashboard. if you pull out and read your owners manual, you will find its exact location. replacement owners manuals can be had on eBay. the two flasher units are generally the same part and can be swapped. so if you think your turn signal flasher is bad just swap in the emergency flasher. if they then work, go buy another flasher unit, if they do not work then you have a problem elsewhere.

I have a 94 Sonoma and to locate the turn signal flasher, inside, under dash, on left side is a plastic sound protector, mine had 3 screws holding it up, drop this down and straight in you will see a 1" round thing - this is the flasher.
