Why is my 1992 ford festiva firing in the order 1-2-3-4 and not 1-3-4-2?

Your order is wrong, and you need to switch the wires around on the top of the distributor. First pull the distributor cap off to find direction of rotation (some distributors turn clockwise, and some turn counterclockwise). Watch the rotor, the black bar on top of distributor shaft, and note it's direction of travel while someone bumps the starter over with the ignition switch. Now you can put the dist. cap back on, and arrange the spark plug wires in order 1-3-4-2. Leave number 1 in place, if it is marked as 1 on the cap. The plug wires can be pulled out of the raised terminals in the distributor cap for setting them in order. Just be careful of pulling too ******* the wires, you can cause them to break internally. Twist them back and forth first to loosen them, and gently pull them out, using the plug wire's rubber boot if possible to pull on them.
If it is easier to pull the sparkplug wires off the spark plug, rather than the distributor cap, you could set the order that way. Just need to know the direction of rotor travel. Number1 will go to cylinder 1, and next in order will be number 3, following direction of rotation, so that wire goes to cylinder 3, and on to 4, then 2.
Post back if you need more help. Good luck.

Change my spark plugs and distrubutor cap and the 85 ranger want start

You may have got the spark plug wires out of sequence.
Reseat the coil wire going to the center of the distributor cap Check the spark plug wires at the distributor against the firing order as follows:
The spark plug firing order is 1 - 4 - 2 - 5 - 3 - 6 The distributor rotor turns CLOCKWISE The engine cylinders / spark plugs are numbered :
firewall 3 - 6 2 - 5 1 - 4 front
Best wishes,
TF

I turn-up my spark plugs, wires, and distributor.. Which it is all new... But one thing.. I SCREW UP!!! I lost where all the order spark goes.. So I went through web site to find the problem.. I found...

www.autozone.com has all sorts of online guides with this information. It does require registration, but it is simple to do. I do believe the #1 piston is the first one from the front of the car on the driver side usually.

Need help changing out the spark plugs and Distributor Cap

just make sure that you have the gap for the spark plugs set for your vehicle. You will find these specs on the emissions sticker under the hood, Make sure that when you put on your new distributor cap that you install the spark plug wires in the proper firing order or the vehicle will not run

1987 ford bronco 2 turns over wont ignite loose distributor

If your distributor is lose than you need to check the timing. Pull a plug out and put the plug wire back on it. ground the side of the plug and see if you get any spark. It should be a bright blue. If there is spark than put the plug back in. But I would first check the timing.

Spark plug and cap wiring for 1985 ford bronco 2

When your facing the front of your bronco looking into engine compartment, on left hand side in sequence is 1, 2, 3 front to back. on right hand side it's 4,5,6, front to back. The distributor rotates clockwise. On the top of the distributor, is 1-4-2-5-3-6 starting at the little mark on the cap or TDC. Hope that helped.
