    in regards to the above response;
    good instructions, however about the rivets; i used a 14v cordless drill with a 1/4" machine drill bit, drilled through the center of the rivet and it took about 30 sec. each. There made of aluminum. I bought a really large rivet gun from harbor freight for about $18.00 and it came with rivets that are the same size as the ones you will be drilling. I replaced everything on the drivers door in 2 hours start to finish. It really was pretty simple.

Easy take two screws out top left and right edges they are easy to see if looking also there indented in door panel. Pop off two trim pieces on the edges of the handles they are hiding two screws. And there is one more screw in behind handle. That should be it. Pop off from bottom up there are plastic tabs holding together now just be gentle. Once you have loose you will need to untwist a courtesy light and start unscrewing your power accessories to completely remove door panel. The motors I believe in these window regulator units are good but have something that comes loose or disconnected inside. I do not know just bought a used one and put in mine. Anyway, use pneumatic chisel to take out rivets, should be 7 all together. Three for motor, two on top holding window and two on bottom securing the regulator. You will need to replace the rivets with nuts and bolts when your reinstalling your new assembly. I wouldn't go any longer than 20-25 mm length bolts. Have to remove lower inside straight rubber trim piece that the window glides in and out on. Just work it real slow from one end to the other and will just fall right out. Remove the glass. Tips: Do not get carried away chiseling You wouldn't want to break the glass. Good idea to put a piece of wood or something inside the door to support the glass in case it drops down. Never dropped for me but I put in supports just in case. You could drill them out but could take hours and then you have to drill through your door to gain access to some of the bolts. If you don't have a compressor go to friends house buy a heavy duty pneumatic chisel at harbor freight $20-40 or borrow one or something I had all 7 rivets out in about 5 minutes. Compare that with drilling! Total job can take about an hour or two. Add more time for rookies and If your trying to fix your old motor which i would recommend. Well actually I would recommend buying a complete assembly and then installing the new one while your working on your spare. The motor is where the expense is at. Hope this helps someone. I was discouraged from this job after reading manufacture and repair manual steps. Well turned out that the pneumatic chisel is the answer to getting her done. You wont need no stinking literature just don't break the glass. Its pretty simple.

Testimonial: "About the above mentioned solution: I drilled the rivets out with a 14v cordless drill and a 1/4" machine drll bit. It took about 30 sec. each, their made of aluminum. I bought a really large rivet gun at Harbor Freight for about $18.00 and it came with enough 1/4" rivets to replace the ones that I removed. I used the same holes, so there is no new holes to drill. I replaced all of the parts and had it back togather in about two hours. It really is pretty simple. My added advise is to really shop around. I found that the prices varied A lot."

    Glad you didn't have the trouble I was having trying to drill them out. The rivets were sticking out in the middle making it hard to center the drill and yeah the bit did chew through pretty quick on the outsides. I just opted for my handy pneumatic chisel, after a couple minutes of various angle drilling. The new holes to drill was regarding access holes to the top two screws holding the glass. Even if I rolled window up or down I could not drill straight through the rivet due to no inline openings on the panel. If your drilling knock the center of the rivets flush and even center punch before drilling. Good points and thanks for the comments.

To remove the window switch console from the drivers side door, gently pry up the console, start at the front of the panel, because this is where the friction fastener is. After this is pryed up, slide the unit forward and remove. Then you can remove the switch package. This package can be disassembled and you can clean the contacts to restore the switch back to operation,.

Remove drivers door panel on 1999 lincoln town car

You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. If needed, you can pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything inside the door
