SOURCE: crank sensor

if you are asking about the cam sensor it is easy to replace, passenger side of engine on or near timing chain housing, however, if the cam sensor magnet is weak it too must be replaced, which involves removing the timing gear and chain

SOURCE: Delta 88 oldsmobile speedometer going out

HI. If your speedometer needle doesn't move, or if it flutters, your speedometer cable may be bad.

To determine if it is the cable, disconnect the cable casing from the transmission and from the back of the speedometer on the instrument panel. Draw the cable out from inside of the casing. The cable looks like a twisted piece or wire. If the cable is broken or if it is dry or brittle. It probably needs to be replaced. If the cable is intact and the same length as the cable casing, the problem is likely the speedometer head.

I would also advise to check the speedometer gear as well.

The speedometer gear is located on the output shaft. Inspect it for damage.

This gear rarely suffers damage because the gear from the speedometer that meshes with it is usually made of a softer material. Sometimes, the speedometer gear on the main-shaft is replaceable. A clip can hold it in place or it can be a pressed fit. A special puller is available to pull these gears on the car.

SOURCE: 1996 Oldsmobile 88, where is the flasher unit so I can replace

I believe it is under the glove box door between it and the ashtray. You'll have to remove the panel under the dash (no big deal) and it is in a metal clip attached to the dash panel. Good Luck

1992 olds 88 wont start done put on a new cam & crank sensor & a control module but i have noticed my magnat is missing please help

if its missing, you need to replace the cam gear, unless you can buy a magnet seperately and a clip or way to hold it in the gear. I have not seen one in 10 years, so I cant remember how it was held in.

Try turning the key to the on postion-not crank, just to he postion right before cranking. leave it in that postion for 15 min, Do this three and after the third time go ahead an try to start it. Hopefully this will reset your security for you.

Throttle Problems

Go to an autoparts store like autozone or advance (also check out their websites). Some stores can test the throttle position sensor so that you will know if it is the problem or not. No sense guessing or replacing something that doesn't need replacing. Just because the TPS is only a year old doesn't mean it can't be faulty. Hope this helps and best wishes.

Crank sensor

The crank sensor is behind the harmonic balancer. Not too hard to replace, the harmonic balancer is supposed to come right off but I needed a big 2-jaw puller to get it off.... accessed through the wheel well.
