Question about 1993 Ford Mustang

3 Answers

My '93 5 liter mustang runs rough at speeds greater than 25 mph. I've replaced distributor cap ,spark plugs and wiring , air filter and fuel filter . Plugs are clean .The car began running rough after driving through several very hard thunder showers and a big puddle of water. It has 108K miles . There is a hard black platic tube running from the fire wall on passenger side that I can't figure out what it connects to . Plugged cat converter or bad fuel pump are my next things to check.

Hard plastic tube: vacuum connector? A/C condensate drip tube? Is the MIL (check engine) light on? If so, what are the codes? Does the engine run roughly if you run up the RPMs (to say 3,000 RPM) in neutral? Does it run roughly no matter what gear it's in?

What would cause 93 chevy c1500 rough idle smells of excess gas at exhaust

Does the truck seem fine when you first start it & then acts up when it reaches operating temp?
That would lead me to look at my oxygen sensor, a bad sensor can cause the truck to run "rich" which would explain the fuel smell in the exhaust.

I have a 1990 mitsubishi might max it wont run smooth unless you keep your foot on the gas and keep the rpms up a little bit and it wont drive cause it stalls everytime you try to move it. ive replaced the...

You've already eliminated the spark plug & wireset, distributor cap & rotor.
Sounds like your car needs a tune-up, specifically, the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve, and/of the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve.

Components checked/replaced during a tune-up are:
air filter
motor oil
motor oil filter
breather filter
fuel filter(s)
fuel strainer
PCV valve
EGR valve
spark plugs
spark plug wires
ECM or distributor cap & rotor
cabin air filter
transmission oil filter
transmission oil
engine coolant
check all vacuum hoses and lines

Troubleshooting the no-start condition - from the 1990 Mitsu Mighty Max Repair Manual:

What is needed for a tune up?

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. For a tune up, you would need to change spark plugs, coils, distributor cap, coil pack, and wires. You would change the air filter and the fuel filter also. Change your pcv valve as well. You can also change all your fluids and filters, such as oil, coolant fluid, and transmission fluid.

1999 Ford Taurus mechanical problem

Hello,
your problem appears to be the idle control motor located on the air intake manifold it is a small motor that goes bad quite often. Other items that can cause this is a bad /clogged air filter or a tune up (spark plugs and wires), or clogged fuel injectors. to clean the injectors you can buy a container of fuel system cleaner and pour it into the gas tank and as you drive it cleans the system.

Once the fuel system is cleaned via a tankful of cleaner & gas then the idle controller motor would be next on the list to be replaced.

Good Luck !
