Question about Dodge Intrepid

My engine seized up the other day, and im not sure why.. it suddenly lost power, brakes were failing, and i rolled to a stop.. popped the hood to see the pcv hose melted in two, with smoke coming out.. wont even turn over anymore.. please help

Does not sound to good maybe when she cools down she might be alright if she heated up that much evrthing gets tight through heat expansion let her cool fix what ever leaks ya have and top up oil and water maybe ya might be lucky that she is not seized

that's a transmission code.
- Faulty Brake Switch
- Mis-adjusted Brake Switch
- Brake Switch harness is open or shorted
- Brake Switch circuit poor electrical connection

Can this car actually have brakes stuck on , sure but
the above is only the brake lamp stuck on. that is, the switch. failed
or maladjusted. (do any brake work? latetly)
low engine power.?
Can this light and low power be related?., heck I dont know
i cant drive this car., but i can push it by hand (feel drag) and
spin tire/wheels on jack stands and tell if there is drag in about 15min work.
no drag then the switch is bad. and the engine power
is un related.
if the brake lamps are stuck on, the switch is bad. (or not adjusted right) a simple switch test is easy and fully covered in the FSM.
you can google for simlpe tests or youtube them..

LOW POWER> (driving engine power, to tires)
this stall test , shows 2 things,
1: the engine has power. (normal) spec RPM.
2: the transmission does not slip. (RPM way to high , slips)

for people with A/T (complex ) this is 1 test of many in the FSM
the FSM has 100 pages on ON CAR testing.
I do not know, your cars, stall speed spec. , i do not have the FSM.
if doing work on your own, car, i highly recommend getting one.

does the stall test fail in all gears? L and drive, or 2 ? etc?
and revers?

Check the dipstick and see if it looks milky, sounds like you may have a cracked head or blown head gasket. good luck

GMC 3500 error message "Battery not charging" and lost all power steering and brakes. Is this the alternator?


You might want to pop the hood and make sure your serpentine belt is still there. If the belt snaps/breaks, your power steering pump, water pump, alternator, A/C compressor will all stop turning. That's where I would start.

No speed when gas pedal is to floor tranny light came on


With the oil light coming on and the brake pedal being hard to press I would say that the engine stopped hence no vacuum -no power assist from the booster.- hard brake pedal. The lock uo feeling may come from the engine seizing up while you were still in gear

I was driving and my car lost all power and won't restart I've been told the engine is seized solid and the timing chain is broke and that's why it wont work but the wheel's didn't lock...


I assume your S class is an automatic gearbox ,hence the roll to a stop when engine seize/cam chain break.the symptoms of a camchain break would be the valves will hit the pistons causing major damage to valves, pistons,cylinder head, conrods, bores and possibly crank.Its possible that the engine seized first causing the chain to break,either way it would be a seriously expensive/terminal engine problem.

It seems like something snapped in my steering, the belts squealed for a second and then I didn't have any power steering and my cars runs rough now


Make sure the serpentine belt is still on the engine. Sounds like a pulley seized and the belt snapped. The belt runs everything including your alternator which is likely why it isn't running right...eventually it will stall and not start, or, overheat.

While driving my 2005 armada began leaking fluid & smoke poured from the engine compartment..then the engine just seized completely. I had it towed to a local aamco. Have these models had transmission...


if the engine seized and smoke was pouring from under the hood, its most likely not the tranny. are you sure the engine seized? what color smoke poured out? can you still shift the tranny? if the tranny broke, you wouldnt be able to start your car, however, that doesnt mean your engine seized, that's just a fail safe designed to keep you from destroying your engine internals when the tranny seizes. if you can still shift, the tranny isnt seized and you should put the vehicle in nuetral and try to push it, if it moves, the problem is the engine. cant tell you much more than that without specifics. also: if you are driving a vehicle with recalled brakes, you arent very smart. if your brakes have been recalled, you need to be using aftermarket brake parts. dont have the dealer service your brakes, go to a brake shop or a parts store and get brake parts that meet original equipment standards, but are NOT original equipement. if you have already switched from factory brakes to after market brakes, then whomever has been installing your brakes doesnt know what they are doing. i deliver pizza part time and put tremendous wear and tear on my brakes, yet i still get 3 years out of cheapo brake pads. 4 sets of brakes in 5 years is rediculous, and i would find a new mechanic if i were you.

Reverse died, engine HOT, drive lurches


I would have to say that your transmission failed. The Tranmission was trying to lock up and the engine was being forced to labor extra hard and that is what more than likely created the extra heat.

Your brake booster may be leaking or the check valve on the vacuum hose going to the booster may be bad. Do you hear a hissing sound coming from the booster when you push the petal? Check these first before tearing down your engine. Good luck. Please rate me so I know how I'm doing. Thanks.
