I am having problems finding the starter solinoid. Is it visible from the engin compartment? Under the car? The engine will not turn over. The battery is charged.

it may push the gear out just fine, but lack power to keep it pressed forward .Sounds like a solinoid problem. It is turning off before releasing the key. Check the solinoid! God-Bless!

Went to start my truck and it would not turn over. I had lights horn but it will not turn over. I bought a battery also

First check all you fuses under the dash and in the engine compartment for any blown fuses for the ignition system.Ceck to make sure the battery terminals are clean and tight.Check the wires that are attached to the starter are tight and clean. If no problems there then I would remove the starter and have it tested by autozone, checkers or your local auto parts store for proper operation. This service is free at these places.

The starter is gud and strong but it keeps turning the engine over and the key is in my hand out of the ignition

You've got a short or the ignition switch is faulty. Run your hand over any power wire to see if you have any hot spots. This is where the short is. Also the starter may be good but the starter solinoid may be shorting in which case change the solinoid. Good luck!

Reversed jumper cables, blown fusible link?

Turn the key to run, truck in park, and jump the starter from the small wire to the large wire on the starter solinoid. If it starts, all is good and your fussible link is probably right. The fusable links are located in the engine compartment, under a cover on the firewall.

Ford au 01 xr6 falcon, engine stopped while driving, now has full power in battery but engine wont turn over

does it clcik? turn on your headlights and try cranking the engine over, if the lights don't dim then your wire to your starter is not recieving power to the starter solnoid. there is a round device monted on the side near the battery that has a wire that goes to the battery and one that goes to the starter then there will be one small wire which actavates the starter take a pair of jumper cables place the car in park turn the key to the run postion hook up one end of the cable to the positive side of the battery and the other end to the small wire if it cranks over it means the wire is not working and will have to be tested for aa bad fuse or a fuseable link. Next hook the cable that is connected to the positive side of the battery and connect it to the other side of the solinoid that goes to the starter if it cranks yo know the solinoid is good if it does not replace the solinoid and that should fix your problem. If it does not crank on the first test replace the solinoid anyway, if it still does not work the starter is bad or loose/ You can remove the starter and take itto autozone and they can test it for free. Hope this helps get you up and going and if it does not post what you find here on the e-mail you recieve. Thanks for your time.

1985 ford 250 diesel - Starter verese Battery

Both batteries need to be fully charged. Some have solinoids on both the starter and the fender well. Don't use ether in that engine. It can cause engine damage.
