Hi!!
If the cap is OFF the tank or if is ON the tank and have enough gas, you can have the key made at any key shop for about $5 if it's OFF or about $25 if it's ON. which is more than what the cap is worth.
If the cap is ON the tank, you better ff removing the little circle where the key hole is and pull out the key tumbler, if you can't do it, insert a medium to large size flat head screwdriver into the keyhole and turn hard counterclockwise until the tumbler gives up and cap can be removed. be careful not to let any debris get into the gas tank. REPLACE WITH NEW CAP.
Good Luck!! Don't forget to rate this post!!!

We have a 1990 chevy beretta that only runs when you put gas in the carb. what's wrong?

Did you check the fuel filter? Do this first, you have to remove it to check it. Next, turn your key to the on position and have someone listen by the gas tank to see if they can hear the fuel pump turning on and off. If not, check the fuses for it and if they are ok, then its the pump.

I have a 90 F250 4x4 with dual gas tanks. The rear tank needed a new pump so had it replaced. Now, I got a new problem, the back tank pumped fuel into the front tank to a point gas flowed out the filler...

the diverter valve that shuts the flow off to fuel tank, and transferes over to other tank is bad. here is a picture of it--1990 f250 valve. selector_small.jpg

You will need to remove the wheel and the lock plate
A lock plate compressor is needed for this

Remove directional switch some whataway frome the columns area
Remove the set screww holding the key cylinder in place
Pull out thelock and reinstall the new one

The fuel pump is inside the gas tank. The filter is next to the tank in-line of the fuel hose.

Gas gauge flys from quarter tank to way past full mark and sticks

This isn't a definite fix, but it may be that the gasoline in your tank is 'sloshing' forwards and backwards and your sensour is getting readings when the gasoline is in different positions in your tank. The connection is actually above your gasoline tank and you'll have to take off the tank harnesses and drop the tank if you want to check to see if the connection became slightly loose, otherwise you can just fill your gas tank and reset your temporary milage gage (that's the little black button near your RPM meter) and remember how many miles you get per tank.
