Ihave 1999 gmc yukon 5.7 vortex when starting crank up run then cut off what could be problem

This problem you are having sounds like a crankshaft sensor going bad. Do you have a check engine light on, in your dash? Have your computer scanned, and cars computer will tell you what the problem is. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

Put new key ignition in my 1999 and it will not program to turn over and start the vehicle

Is because the ignition/column and theft module do not match, or maybe damaged theft system during the attempted theft of truck. You can bypass tho.

1999 gmc safari anti-theft deterrant relay location

my car left me stranded in the mountains because of the anti-theft device. I ended up in the dealers, paying a lot, but they changed the housing of the steering column by the ignition where it supposedly caused a short and wouldn't allow the car to start. That was 2 yrs ago and it is acting up again.

no there is no cheap nor easy fix, the steering column will have to come apart and the anti-theft contraption attached to the ignition switch which holds the steering column fixed will have to be replaced. there is a nice video of a fellow doing this over on youtube.com, good luck finding the parts.

Read up on this link. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/ But replacing steering column, you have probably swapped out the ignition that is part of the cars anti theft system. The passlock has immobilized the starter. Read that link all the way thru. Way too much to type. Tons of info and DO IT YOURSELF solutions to fix the security too.tayjoejoe_4.jpg

He's an idiot and get your truck out of his shop. Your truck doesn't lock the wheel, gm has gotten rid of that system a while back. That was for anti theft protection.
And for another note there would be no reson to not be able to work on the truck with the wheel not locking.
