I've just finish resolving the same issue. It turns out that the dealership installed the wrong type of tail bulb. Same size and fit, but the wrong number. It resulted in the two connectors in the bulb fusing together and computer pointed out, in P0504, that one of the lights was saying that the break is on. Also, due to the same reason, the remote started failed to work. It would start and then shut itself off.
Anyway, thank god a five dollar bulb solved the problem. So go to local store, find out which bulb you are supposed to have and check it against which one you actually have.

Hi! If the PCM (powertrain control module) registers a code p0504 it's definitely a brake switch failure. You will need to have it replaced to get rid of the code. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

Registers code p0504

Alot of time that code comes up when you need to replace the brake light switch. Make sure your brake lights work,if they do, clear the code and see if it comes back. If it does, replace the brake light switch on brake pedal. Its an inexpensive part.

Sun visor on driver's side won't stay up or all the way down. 2006 Sonata

This works on any visor. Obtain a small clamp as used in wiring harnesses. On the shaft end of the visor, 1/2 inch from the end, install the clamp around the visor and the shaft. Drill a hole through the visor for the clamp screw and tighten as needed. I might be a redneck, but it works!!
