SOURCE: 1997 GMC Sierra Ignition Switch Replacement

take off the cover on the top and bottom of the steering column just behind the wheel. pop the tilt lever out simply just by grabbing it and give it a good tug. then once you have the new switch and you get in there your going to need an inverted torx socket to remove the small bolts that hold the switch to the column. do not move the gear on the new switch make sure it lines up exactly as the old one did!!!!!!!!!!!!

1997 gmc sierra 3500 won't start

When you turn the ignition to start, do you hear the starter turning and the solenoid engaging the flywheel ? test your starter by jumping it and see if the engine turns over. If this works, then you might consider in checking fuel pressure. Do you have any codes in your ECM ?

94 gmc sierra 4.3 v6 manual, won't turn over, can hear fuel pump start when accessories turned on..won't fire, girl who needs help

The first thing I would check is fuel pressure. This type of fuel injection requires a minimum fuel pressure in order to operate. If fuel pressure is as little as one psi below minimum the vehicle will not start. You can try squirting a couple of shots of carb spray into the air snorkel while somebody cranks the engine over. If the engine starts and then dies you now you fpdeffinetely have a fuel issue. If the engine still won't start check for spark. Let me know what you find. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

1997 GMC Sierra- won't start unless you put fuel in the throttle body, but runs good until you turn it off. You have to use the fuel in the throttle body every time you want to crank it. What's wrong? Any...

Start injectrer deffcctive (unlikely) or out of circit!
But more likely fuel preshure is douwn! check your fuel pump for preshure, once started the engine can live with that for a time I think you will find it is that!

I have an 1997 gmc sierra 3500 hd that has air in fuel lines how do I fix this

If it is something that is persistant, you should try looking for cracks in the lines, but if you replaced them just crank the engine, the air should work itself out in time.
