Use a large insulated screwdriver and touch the contacts on the starter if it turns its not the starter.

Starter clicks when I hit starter button

Assuming that the battery is good (even new ones can be bad) it sounds like you have either a bad starter solenoid or bad starter.

Starter motor solenoid wont engage

There is condenser shaped part attched to the starter moter this is the part which makes the starter moter to spin and when it is stuck the moter does not spin you can check it by one person sitting in the car holding the key to start position and another one hit it softly with some spanner or something The starter moter will move there is a small gear in it which requires replace ment Or the other possible reason can be the carbon brushes in the starter moter are worn out or the place where these brushes touch on armature the place is worn out that Y ou will only come to know when you will take the moter away from the engine Lastly I hope you might have checked your battery that it is giving sufficient current to the moter

Starter moter turns engine over a bit slower than it should (on a 2000cc corolla verso diesel 4D4 year 05) this was reported to me after a 80,000 mile service. it still starts ok. would cleaning all...

check for proper voltage and amps being delivered by the battery first, and clean all connections, place a multimeter on the battery one leg on each post, and have someone turn the motor over, if it drops below 10 volts ,, replace the battery as its weak or has a dead cell, if it does have 11 volts, check the brushes in the starter itself and replace as necessary ,

In cold weather car cranks, but it does not have enough power or fuel to get it started. Have new battery. Have had to use starter fluid as well as a jump to get it started in this cold weather. What could...

a worn out starter could do it if the bushing in it are worn it would pull to much power from the battery and would not turn the moter over fast enough to pump enough gas to start the car if its carberated then it has a manual fuel pump the fuel pump wont pump enough gas if the moter is not turning over fast enough i would either rebuild the starter or replace it.

My starter on my car just clicks and i had to put in 2 quicks of oil in it do you thimk my moter is locked up on it it ran earlyer and then it would not start up

i would try another battery if it were me.if the engine was running when you last stopped it there is no reason to think it is seized. the clicking you are hearing is the solenoid switch not getting enough power to engage the starter, the battery is flat or the connections are bad ,check the terminals and get a junp start or another battery

Truck will not start

this click is likley to be the starter trying to work it could be just a very bad earth from the battery to the engine or body of the truck or a bum starter, and bad battery leads will also do this, so clean every lead and tighten them all up, however i feel its just a fulty starter moter

My honda prelude stalled an now the stater is makins a funny nois and the moter wont turn over wat do i do

sounds like you have a dead battery and possible a bad altenator have the battery checked out and replace if bad. If not recharge and if the car starts have the charging system checked out you may have a bad altenator or voltage regulator probably built in the altenator. Possibly the starter but not likely since it stalled while running.

Puma wont crank.

Lights dimming a good clue, that means that there is power going to the solonoid but starter moter wont turn. Check all battery connections and starter connections Make sure battery has enough power to turn starter or try jumper cablea.
Sometimes the starter gets jambed up due to poor lube on the bendix. try hitting the housing with a hammer. You can take the starter out and bench rebuild or just replace it its not a hard job,
