SOURCE: Jeep Grand Cherokee running hot. I've changed the

Check your radiator for external and internal obstructions (leaves, bugs etc on the a/c condenser or leaves between the condenser and radiator, rust or calcium deposits inside the radiator core all cause loss of heat transfer)
Also make sure that the system is full and that the electric fan and the clutch fan are operating properly. (electric fan should come on just above normal operating temp and clutch fan should not be "freewheeling" above temp either)
Note: If you need to have the radiator flushed, do it separately from the engine. especially the inline 6 and 4 engines rust up inside and if the system is flushed with the radiator connected, the debris will pack up inside it and actually can worsen the condition.

Does it leak any antifreeze on the floorboard or anywhere? Common problem with the jeep cherokee that the heater or A/C will cause it to leak and had to replace the whole unit.

2000 jeep grand cherokee will not start tempture gage reads hot

This is a safety system built into a Grand cherokee. If it gets hot or loses oil pressure it will shut itself down to prevent engine damage. If it hasn't been started and it reads hot I would say your coolant temperature sensor for the gauge has gone bad and needs to be replaced. They are fairly inexpensive and not to hard to replace.

How to hot wire the Cherokee?

you cant hot wire a 1999 jeep cherokee it has a steering wheel lock. An thus even if you did get it to start you couldnt turn the wheel. Would like information on how to solve a problem with it not starting i could do that. But to hot wire the vehicle is not really possible without doing as much work as it would take to fix a problem.
thanks, Midwest-tek

When it's really hot outside my jeep won't start! I checked the coolant and it's fine I don't know what else it could be. It will start after I try a few times and then let it sit. Could it be the gas line...

Check the fuel pump pressure when the jeep is at operating temperature. You can do the "easy" thing first, and replace the fuel filter, but I bet your fuel pump is going out.

Since you added coolant, now it is time to check the fans. If the fans do come on, than your thermostat needs to be replaced, Should be done every 4 years anyways.
