The brake friction material has metal impregnated into them and the computer "feels"the amount of wear left(clever eh.)when you are informed that you need replacements you MUST use genuine parts.and (you will like this)some markets(countries)you must get a dealer to fit and reset the wont be long before the bonnet(hood)is locked so that users cannot mess around with what is now more complicated than a desktop computer.

Sound like tire scrubbing and grinding on right front 2004 ford explorer

Get your brakes inspected - the grinding noise may be the front disc brake pads, which have worn out. Several national chains offer free estimates for brake repairs. They will also check the other front end components, which could be causing the noise.
Hope this helps...

I have 1991 BMW 535 i and my dashboard keep showing this message "brake lining" I don't know what's going on. Also my gas indicator is not giving me the right reading

The "brake lining" means your brake pads( on one axle) have worn to its service minimums and will need to be replaced soon. Have your brakes serviced. continued operation can cause brake rotors to become damaged from metal to metal contact.

The incorrect fuel gauge reading could be caused by several causes, but most likely a worn out fuel level sending unit.

My toyota corolla NZE121 has P/S sign on the dashboard and the steering is hard. What is that problem? What should I do to fix that problem/

This shows that the POWER STEERING is faulty as the fluid pressure is low . This can be due to leak in the fluid line or fault in the pump. You must check and see the belt to the pump or the motor drive- if electric. If belt is worn reset., If not fill fluid.
Request that if the initial checks are not clear to the fault you might need the help from the Service for opinion and estimate.

Have a 2005 gmc jimmy, i have a seriousnoise coming from right rear brake area, not sure, but i think it could me emergency brakes, when i press the ebakes on...i don't have any, but the cable is still...

Sounds like the brake linings are worn to the metal. I would take the truck to a service center for an estimate. Ask them to inspect the rear brakes and pull the drums off.

Car tracks very poorly.driving on freeway car duddenly pulles to the right or to the left.also does this when braking.i have to use the steering wheel to straghten it out.

Hi, the likely cause of play in the steering is worn tie rod ends, but it could also be the rack. The car should be put on a lift to determine which parts are worn out. Recommend you call around to alignment shops to see if you can get a free front end inspection. Ask them to show you the parts that are worn out and get a line-by-line repair estimate. Then write back to us for advice on the repairs. OK?

Cannot remove rear brake drums

You need to back off the adjusters on the rear shoes to allow the worn drum to pass over the brake shoes.
A worn drum will have a unworn drum section on its outer edge where the brake shoes don't normally rub.
This must unworn ring must be able to pass over the brake shoes before you can get the drum off.

Two tools should be used through the brake adjuster access hole.
One small diameter blade screwdriver can be used to push the self adjuster lever away from the notched adjuster nut, while a second flat bladed tool is used to lever the adjuster nut, rotating it so as to back off brake shoe expander adjustment.

Clunk when shifting car into drive from park 1990 ford taurus.

If the front end vibrates when you put the brakes on it could be a few different problems. Your need to check the brakes, they may be worn. if the back brakes are worn your front brakes are doing all the stopping. if your brakes are fine then you are looking at the front control arms or the upper and lower ball joints. You can take your car to a brake and front end shop for a free estimate. You are probably looking at about 400 to 1200 dollars.
I hope this helps you out
