Question about Volkswagen Passat

1 Answer

Hi. I have a 2005 VW Passat B5.5, 2.0 TDI DPF, 1968 cmc 100 kw, engine code BGW. I just bought the car, and i really need to know what engine oil to use. I bought 5 liters of Castrol EDGE 5w30 that meets 507.00 specifications, but i want to be definitely sure that this is the right oil. Thanks in advance.

The oil you got is fine,as the car uses more oil as it gets older the lower number should get higher (i.e. 5/30-10/40-20/50)that way you control the amount of oilburn.roughly a pint every 1000miles is about right.

Passat 2006 2.0 tdi 140 engine won't start dash warning says either "engine fault, garage" or "low oil pressure".

Exhaust pressure sensor a possibility if it has a DPF (diesel particulate filter). Has it had its fuel pump recall, the oil pressure light could be just the constant cranking and running the battery low.

The best oil for A4 2000, 1.9 TDI, 85 kW, is CASTROL 0W30 SLX Longlife II (TDI Pump Nozzle) VW Norm 506.01 . This oil is issued by Castrol special for TDI - Pumpe Duse (Pump Nozzle) engine as longlife oil (50,000 km service interval, or two years).

Need to change the oil pressure sqitch on a vw passat

Hi before you do an oil change try seafoam in the engine oil. this can sometimes fix the problems you are having, I used seafoam in engine oil and fuel and breather line and ran engine for 100 miles, but don't run hard, and its cleaned all the sump and oil veins in the engine, as checked with a scope looking though the oil sump plug. it did a really good job, my engine is a bit older than yours 1994. oil sensor is at the bottom of the engine on the sump. pressure sensor is above the oil filter it has a single wire conection

2005 VW passat 1.9 TDi "immobiliser activated" on display

There may not be any other way to fix it except to replace your instrument panel. That's where your immobilizer is located. Or you could try this:

Try cold-booting the car. Remove both battery cables from the battery. Short the battery cables together (away from the battery) for about 15 seconds. Reconnect the battery. No guarantees - I found this info at tdiclub.com.
