Sounds like u either have a loose hose or a broken hose
look for hose going from gas tank to engine
check for any breaks or loose connections
if you find nothing than check carb for any leaks
if broken hose u can replace it for around $2.00 to $10.00
depending on how much hose and clamps u need
if it's not the hose then it could be carb-check bottom of carb and sides for any gas leaking out
do all this with motor turned off
once u find problem-start engine and see if u have any other leaks

Gas smell inside car

Being that old, I am Guessing the fuel tank has been removed to replace the fuel pump and the gas tank vent hose was not connected properly or has a smash in it, or not connected, when put back up which will cause the hard to fill up problem as it can not vent the fumes fast enough. Fumes may leak under, then inside the car instead of to the filler neck that goes to the outside of the car. I had that happen. Crawl under, look and feel around to check this.

I have a fuel smell while driving my 2005 dodge caravan, just fumes no sign of a gas leak!!!

Under the hood look very closely at the fuel rail and injectors for any signs of seepage. Under the car look very closely at the seal where the fuel pump is mounted to the fuel tank.

I am getting strong raw gas fumes blowing in through my vents into the cab of my 2005 Pontiac Aztec. What could be causing this and is it safe to continue driving?

If they are truly raw gas fumes you have a gas leak. DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR. It can start on fire if the gas leak is under the hood, or if it's somewhere else and someone throws a **** out the window it could start on fire too. I would have it towed to a mechanic immediately. If you are mechanically inclined and know where your fuel filter is under the hood you could check those fuel lines first to see if they are cracked or leaking. If you have jackstands you could put the car up on 4 of those and check underneath the car and inspect the lines from the tank to the filter to the engine. If you are not mechanically inclined I would air on the side of caution and take it to a mechanic ASAP. If it is exhaust you are smelling and not raw gas, it is still not safe to drive. Exhaust fumes do not take long to put you to sleep and when you go to sleep you do not usually wake up. I would get it in to get looked at before driving it again. Good Luck!

Well i have a 1983 chevy s10 2.8 and its been broke down for awhile i just put a full tank in before i was having this problem the thing is it started just fine from the gas station and it was fine for two...

sometimes if a fuel pressure regulator goes bad , you will be able to smell fuel fumes under hood. a leaking pressure regulator will cause---hard starting, poor fuel economy, stalling, check engine light, gas smell under hood. also check all fuel lines under hood.

My 2005 Chevy Classic Malibu will not start. Conditions are: overfilled at gas station to where gas spewed out. No problems prior to this. Car would not start. Have pressure in the fuel line, can hear...

Sounds like the fuel pump went bad, or a relay for the fuel pump. My guess it's a fuel pump more likely to have gone bad.

Maybe a coincidence that when you overfilled the gas at the gas station that it put the pump 'over the edge' as far as functioning.

I do not see a connection between overfilling and the fuel pump going bad at that instance, but anything is possible.

2003 Chevy Impala Service Traction Sytem show on Dash

I can't answer the question about the gas fumes, but I had the same problem last year with the "Service Traction Sysytem" message and the Trac and ABS lights coming on in my Impala. Mine turned out to be because of a bad wheel bearing, that was causing the ABS and traction system not to work. I'm not sure if you've experienced this, but another thing that would happen with mine was that I would go to brake and have a hard time depressing the brake pedal, almost like it was pushing back. That is the point when the Trac and ABS lights came on.

Code 446 comes on and I smell gas

if that was the code for the purge vent solenoid i would say it is bad since you smell fumes. because that solenoid allows the vacuume from the engine while it is running to pull the excess fumes from the fuel tank and burn them off inside the engine. also might want to check lines under the hood associated with the solenoid to make sure excess air pressure from the fumes building up didn't blow a vac. line off. i would also check the condition of your fuel cap, if it doesn't seal good it could also cause a similar problem.
