When the tem gauge is, say halve way do you hear the cooling fan coming on if not i would suspect the tempture switch faulty. Also make sure the thermostat is in place as the motor needs to measure the amount of hot water running inside the system, always check the simple thing first,if all this fails then i would get a water pressure test done this will tell you right away the problem.please rate this answer thanks.adrian,,,,,,

After waterpump is replaced by a PROFESSIONAL and it's still overheating, odds are the headgaskets are bad if not the heads warpped and that needs major work then.

I installed new starter and the starter keeps running when i hook up the battery.

The hot wire running from the battery to the starter could be touching the solenoid causing the starter to engage. Make sure it is propertly attached.

How can i know if my ford taurus wagon 1996 has keyless entry or remote control from factory, when i bought it didn't come with it, but it has power lock

To figure out if you have factory keyless entry, place the key in the ignition and turn it foreward 5 times in 10 seconds. This means forward just till the dash lights come on, but do not start it. If the doors lock and then unlock, you've entered programming mode and you have a factory system. You'll need to get on line and purchase a factory remote, (I didn't see any on Ebay) and following this guude:

- Cycle ignition from OFF to RUN 5 times within 10 seconds, ending in RUN. (this may take 8 times)
- All doors will lock then unlock to confirm programming mode.
- Press any button on 1st transmitter.
- Door locks will cycle to confirm programming.
- Press any button on 2nd transmitter (up to 4 transmitters total possible).
- Turn ignition to OFF.
- Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.

Hope this helps.

Bought a 1996 Ford Taurus and it is running hot

If its boiling over then your coolant flow is blocked. I would start with replacing the thermostat sounds like its not opening.

My car runs hot

Yes, thermostat could be closed shut. Thermostats are pretty cheap and easy to replace. If the car has never had one replaced, I'd start there..

1996 ford taurus is losing power and rpms when engine gets warm

If it was a dealer, go back & have him scan it for fault codes. Usually cheaper to have it scanned and replace one faulty part, than replace 5 parts before you hit the right one. Autozone & PEP boys apparently will scan for free if you bought it private.

Check the fluid as recommended by Ford. Do u have the owners manual? It will give the procedure. I'm quite sure your Taurus trans fluid is checked at operating temp w/ engine running, in park. U can also check the dipstick, Ford usually has the procedure engraved on the dipstick. The reason for checking the fluid as Ford tells u to, is because their method will give an accurate reading. As u can see from checking the fluid in 2 different ways, u got totally different readings.

welcome to the world of owning a ford. after about 130,000 miles your check engine light will come on and stay on unless you reset your comps. but will come back on if the problem is real or the sensor is bad. see ford has it set up so that do it your selfers like me still ahve to pay them money some how. only ford can sell you a new sensor, and only ford knows where it goes. take it to a ford dealership and have the run a digagnostic on your car i bet uit's just a bad sensor.
