Rear end popping, like the ring gear isn't meshing good? Could the limited slip be locked in?

drain the rear axle oil and inspect it, if it looks normal, no metal, then refill it with the oil recommended in the owners manual, you may also need to add a "slip additive"

I have a 2003 4x4 Durango a red fluid is leaking from the top of the rear axel bell housing, the ABS light is on, I know the ABS operates off of hydrolic oil, a line runs across the top of the axel, would...

a red fluid is most likly trans fluid. the abs has nothing to do with that, the abs light could just be a faulty sensor, besides, brake fluid is clear or brakish. now, check to see where the leak is coming from. what i dont understand is brakelines run over the rear diff on most vehicles. see if the leak is coming from somewhere else.

my reconmendation is to take engine brite, which can be bought at any autoparts store, spray area of suspected leak, then rinse with a hose or powerwasher. wait for it to dry and see if the leak becomes more clear, how thick would you estimate the lines to be? 1/4 inch?? 1/8 inch. clean it and find out where the leak is coming from

I have a 2000, there is a speed sensor located in top of the rear axel and I believe another on the tranny housing. Try the rear axel first.

Refilling rear axel

You didn't state the year, but you need to remove the plug in the housing, and fill until it just begins to flow out the bottom of the fill plug hole (make sure vehicle is level while adding). You will need to check what weight gear oil you need, usually 80 to 90 weight, parts store can tell you. You will need to cut the top off the bottle and squeeze it to fill . The last 1/2 of the bottle is difficult to get in, so buy an extra quart over capacity to top it off, you'll have extra for later if needed.

2005 Dodge Durango won't blow cold in front!! Rear air works fine

you are bodging it and as you dont know anything about the A/C system then leave well alone and get it done with a machine.the whole system needs to be evacuated oil drain needs to be measured then refilled with the correct grade of oil and then regassed with the correct WEIGHT of gas and possibly a leak sealer added using special equipment. If it still doesnt work properly then it needs draining again and the venturi valve removing and checking out on the front unit. This is a specialised job for highly skilled operatives with the right equipment
