Check to make sure the engine vacuum is getting to the heater/ac control. Bad vacuum hose or leak. Many vehicles use engine vacuum to move heater doors and controls. When the vacuum is absent, it usually defaults to air blowing out the AC vents.

there is a mixer door in the plenum that could be causing this issue.

My ac on my 2002 jeep grand cherokee blows thru the defrost only

anitajo60, What you need to do is look in the engine compartment for a vacuum line that enters the vehicle through the firewall. This line is what allows you to change the settings from the defrost to the floor or vent. Usually what happens is the line will break from becoming too brittle from the heat of the engine. A small rubber hose that fits tightly on the vacuum hose will do just fine for a repair. Good luck with this.

Jeep AC blows cold air at defrost and feet but not through vents

There is a flap that directs the air. the flap is controlled by a vacuum actuator. This is located inside the venting. The actuator is connected to little vacuum hoses that attach to the temperature control switch. Either the flap is stuck, or the actuator has gone bad.

Your mode door is controlled by vacuum check the vacuum hose on the left side of the intake manifold. these some times fall off leaving your mode door with no vacuum and the default position of the mod door is defrost.
