the part numbers are totally different between the 2 yrs....its almostn imposible to determine....you may contact a wrecking yard they may have another way to determine if they interchange

SOURCE: Need to the torque specs for a 1999 Dodge Durango

Head Torque sequence Step 1: torque to 50 Ft/Lbs Step 2: torque to 105 Ft/Lbs recheck final torque in sequence.

Torque intake manifold: Step 1: 12 inch/Lbs, (hand tight) Step 2: 72 inch/Lbs, (6) Ft/Lbs Step 3: 12 Ft/Lbs
torque intake plenum: Step 1: 24 inch/lb (hand tight) Step 2: 48 inch/lb (4) Ft/Lbs Step 3: 84 inch/lb (7) Ft/Lbs (To torque bolts, start in center using crisscross pattern)

Hi Sheila, i'm glad to help. 99 Durango's with thew 5.2 liter engine were good about the Crank Sensors going bad. Now, as I can't say that securily with out diagnosis. What engine sizes there:
- 3.9 liter V-6 VIN "X"
- 5.2 liter V-8 VIN "Y"
- 5.9 liter V-8 VIN "Z" LDC

Legally, you can not put an older motor into a newer vehicle due to emissions laws. You can always put a newer engine (usually manufactured to meet newer emissions specs) into an older vehicle, but not vice-versa. There's issues with the computer and vin # when you change from one factory engine to a different type as well.

You'd have to replace the transmission as well if you want to run that particular engine. The 4.7L engine is a "mod" motor and the 5.9L is the good old cast iron V-8 design.
