No electronic controls on this truck so the button is the only thing that controls the ac compressor: it the compressor has stopped then the button is clearly faulty - replace it.

Yes, this is how you test it and in that case the compressor is faulty. But since a compressor rarely fails on its own without prior signs you should also check the button, just in case.

Hello, ect is "Electronically Controlled Transmission." I believe it works something like the over-drive, there should be a button to push to turn it on and off. Hope this is helpful.

1987 4 runner. How to remove wiper controls?

You will probably need to replace the multifunction switch as a whole assmbly.
Check with your local auto parts store for a new switch and a Haynes manual.
It is not that hard to do.
You will need a steering wheel puller to access the switch.
Most parts stores will rent the tool for free with a refundable deposit.
Good luck :)

Toyota brake problem

the prob is still your master cylinder. the seal sounds like its back on its self or there is a wear line that pushes it back, get 1 from a scrapy that works, fit undo the rear nipples and leave to drip for 5 mins . then do the front, look at the rear load compensator some vehicles have a bleed nipple to release trapped air from there, what happens when nipple open and u push pedal.
