SOURCE: do 4runners crank pulleys go bad

Yes, in most cases you can. The crankshaft pulley is bolted to the front of the crank shaft by either 1 large bolt and thick washer, or by 4 small bolts around the edge of inside of the pulley, depending on model.

Remove all belts that are driven by the crankshaft pully and then grasp the pully to see if it is loose in some way.

To remove the large bolt(if that's what you have), will require the use of a strap wrench which can be gotten for the free loan-A-tool from Autozone.

Only if the end of the crankshaft was damaged in some way would you have to replace the crankshaft.

If you would like to contact me again about this or other problems, feel free to do so.

SOURCE: how do I tighten the vibration dampening pulley on

Using a air impact gun would be quick and simple. Check the pulley, sometimes the rubber seperates from the actual pulley. Crankshft pulleys usually don`t walk off. I think it seperated. Have your service shop take alook..

Year/make/model?? Check to see if bolt is loose. Some crank pulleys have a rubber insert that can seperate causing a wobble.

Crankshaft Pulley wobbles on 1997 ford aspire

make sure the pulley bolt is tight then check the pulley for being bent. if these 2 things are good then you may have a bent crankshaft at the pulley end or worn crank bearing causing it to wobble.

Can anyone tell me what this loud winding noise is from my 2001 Mitsubishi magna?

if i had to guess i would say a/c compressor clutch bearing one quick way to tell is watch all the pulleys and see if one is not running true or is wobbling then proceed to remove the drive belts one at a time and see if it goes away if it does inspect the pulleys that was on that belt if it just has the one belt and the noise is still there then remove the timing cover and and inspect the timing belt pulleys

The bottom pulley for the drive belt is wobbling and making a loud sound. do i need to replace the pulley and is it the bearings in the pulley?

The bottom pulley on any engine is attached directly to the torsional vibration damper which is attached to the crankshaft. That pulley drives the serpentine belt and has no bearings. First thing you need to do is find out if the pulley bolts have become loose or if the damper on the crank is loose.
If you find the pulley loose, if the bolt holes are not elongated, just tighten it back up. If the damper is loose, remove it from the engine (puller usually necessary) and inspect the crank snout and the alignment key for wear. Any damage to the damper requires that it be replaced. If the crank snout is severely damaged, that requires that the crank itself be replaced (very expensive).

Check all of the accessories that run off the belt. some may have loose or bent pulleys or the acessory itself may have come loose. Be careful to route the belt exactly as shown too. Tighten up or replace your wobbly pulleys.
