SOURCE: I don't no how to hook up a trailer wire harness to my 1984 dodge ram van .

Most vehicles of this vintage have a connector tucked under the rear bumper of the truck, if you purchase the premade harness for your make and model Van, you will have to just plug it in and strap it down. These ar readily available on relitivly inexpensive at most major auto parts outlets.

I hope this is of some help.

Please assist me in wiring my trailer? I have a 4 wire trailer plug and no wiring schematics!

parts stores carry a item that goes into the wiring. ( the factory harness unplugs on most trucks and vans,to install this part) its like a( t) that you don't have to cut any wires, and it makes it simple to install trailer lights. its most cases where trailer supply's are found

How to wire a 4 pin connector for a LED Tailgate bar into the brake lines on a 2000 dodge dakota without trailor plug

With both tail light lenses removed locate the black with yellow wires and the dark green with brown wires coming out of the brake/tail/turn signal sockets.

The black with yellow wire will be the running lights or tail lights and the brown wire from the trailer harness will attach to it.

The green wire on the trailer harness will be the right turn signal and will be attached to the passenger side tail light harness dark green with brown wire.

The yellow wire on the trailer harness will be the left turn signal and will be attached to the dark green with brown wire on the drivers side tail light harness.

The white wire on the trailer harness is the ground wire and will need to be attached to a good ground. Is it pretty easy to crimp an eyelet onto the end of the wire and use a self tapping screw to attach it to the body behind one of the tail light lenses.

Here is a trailer light/wiring article I have done in the past. It has a couple of good tips you may find useful.

Trailer hitch...no running lights (2004)

You'll have to follow the BROWN wire from the factory connector(with the running lights on of course) to the trailer connector and make sure you are getting power all the way to the two lamp fixtures. If so you've probably got two burned out 1157 bulbs or an inline fuse in the factory harness/ trailer harness.Good Luck, Dana

I am installing a trailer hitch on my 2001 dodge Durango. I found the wiring for the flashers, but I can't find the wire for the brake lights.

They came with factory installed towing harnesses. No need to install aftermarket stuff. The harness is in the left(driver side} rear panel. All you need to do is plug it in.

Trailer light hook up for towing

By an inline adapter, that goes between your main harness & tailights connection, and accepts flat 4 or whatever you require for trailer. Most automotive places have them, and perhaps even walmart.
