usualy the gage needs to be recalabrated or the gauge just went bad ... i have had that happen a few times on the replacement of fuel pumps . usuale they calabrate back

You have a fuel gauge sending unit problem, the gauge is not the problem, the sending unit is in the gas tank, u must remove the gas tank to replace it.
